That is a fair point, but I am not really worried about everyone else's record. The point I was making was that IF the defence has been corrected over the last however long, then do we really need to sack all the defenders and get new ones?
No. All I am saying is that we shouldnt overhype our defenders because we clearly arent a strong team defensively. There are lots of reasons for this but we shouldnt excuse the defenders and keeper of all the blame.
So please pick 1 of: 1) We are not a strong team defensively now, so we need changes. I think using goals allowed for the whole season is an accurate reflection of our current ability. 2) Over the season we haven't a good record defensively, but because we have improved the goals allowed statistic, we don't need to change things too much. 3) I am never going to say anything nice about an Arsenal player or the team, because it is so much easier to be negative about everything, and I think it makes me look smarter.

Why should anyone pick 1 of 3 non sensical options? As for taking off the goals from the Balckburn and Utd games - I hate to break it to you, but we did actually concede those goals. Why not go a step further and take off any game where concede more than 1. What a great defence we'd have then!

eh? If you read my comments you will see that I am not singling out the defence at all - I am saying that our style of play leaves spaces that can be exploited, and that no back four could cope well in the system we play. You are jumping to conclusions.
Hence the questionaire. I've had a few too many and it was just waaaaay too much effort to work out what you lot were on about this time. I wuz hoping to cut through the crap for a change.
Our defenders are of acceptable standard. What is not, are the mad forays forward with no sense of understanding about covering behind. Several times a game we lose possession high up and chaos ensues to try to stop their advance on us and re-organise. Too often it becomes an all important tackle from 1 remaining defender. Naturally it can become a foul in a dangerous position. This scenario screams for better organised defence - what does Wenger do? Nothing year after year.
Anyone going to defend our defenders and keeper now. I am not saying they dont have potential. But they arent good right now. They are ok...no better.
Yup. people think Kol and Verm are good cos of all these last ditch tackles. Good defenders dont need to do last ditch tackles 5 times a match.
Aaron Ramsey and Alex Song put in two of the worst displays I have seen from Arsenal midfielders. Song improved attacking wise in the final minutes. But defensively it was a horror show. Mikel Arteta is missed more than, Wilshere,Fabregas and Nasri put together at this moment.
Arteta is missed because wenger refuses to adapt. Didnt he realise how arteta played basically as a coimplete holding player. So when he goes he needs to give someone else the job. Song has proved over the years he is incapable of fulfilling this role and ramsey.....he obviously wasnt told to sit in there.
Wenger should have been playing Coquelin from the start - any midfield with Ramsey in it is going to be poor. Coquelin is composed, plays faster and does not give the ball away. Instead Ramsey starts - and when Sagna gets injured we put a midfielder in defence! It was a horror show tactically from Wenger today. We were set up for a good passing team to basically get a good chance every time they attacked. Not a single midfielder today looked as if they actually cared about helping out the back 4.
