There is no point arguing about whether someone meant it or not. Both Suarez and Cisse hoped that their strike would go in. They must have meant it or why else would they hit it? Neither strike got a deflection.

Most attempts end up in the stands or in the GK's hands . W can only admire the beauty of the strike when it comes off. Couch's was great too.

I would put Cisse first, Crouch second and maybe Suarez third, because his has been done many times previously from a longer distance: Beckham, that Wigan player from that free kick etc.

All great goals, and 'best' is always highly subjective. For me: Suarez, Crouch, Cisse. (There're also Luis's goal and Van Persie's). I put Suarez ahead, purely by dint of his tenacity. He grafted to steal the ball then had the quick thinking, technique and audacity to execute a great goal. His doggedness created the chance, his skill finished it. Hopefully a few more pearlers to come from him this season! <ok>

The whole of my argument about Cisse's goal is based upon countering just that misconception.

Before people start, it ended up being a very spectacular goal and that is not open for debate. To my mind he hit the ball in the general direction of the goal - anything after that was a bonus. Now you can go on to say that he meant to hit the ball in the general direction of the goal and therefore he meant to score. I believe that such statements stretches logic just too far.

The dickheads who swallow the media line don't do logic.

ye all talk of this let noone's ever kicked a football.

Cisse smashed a bender over the keeper, did he pick his exact spot, no, was he trying to score, yes. He took a no risk potshot and it came off. Brilliant looking but it is just one of those goals, and it was the best goal in the prem possibly regardless of what he meant or not. But to 100% mean to hit that exact spot with such a wild shot is laughable otherwise it will be replicated several times a year
