    Pardew Says:

"After such an injury you have to be patient. We don't want to burn him out," Pardew told L'Equipe.

"The objective is to help Hatem to feel back at ease both in his body and mind. His rehabilitation has gone well, our doctors have been in constant contact with Clairefontaine's medical team.
I have had several talks with Hatem. He has spent a lot of time in France during the last few months, so it is essential for him to adapt again to daily life in a group and get focused on the Magpies.

"We rely on him, above all, for next season, but we won't rule out anything.

"If he can play one, two or three matches before the end of May, it would be fine both for us and him.

"Next season? He will play a central role in our attacking line. I want to use him as a playmaker, a number 10, just behind one forward.

"I am convinced he is able to score between 10 and 15 goals a season."

Pardew added: "We will think about how to protect him during matches.

"Our expectations are big but once again we will go slowly. The end to this season will allow us to see if he has not lost his acceleration quality."

hells yeah. I assume we'll be paying some top dollar on a high quality striker then.

With who we've been linked with looking like he's going to favour a 4-2-3-1 style which will be good considering our strength in midfield but I can only see it working with a top striker like you said.

Promosing stuff, I always said Ben Arfa should play in a free role behind a lone striker.

Some very tasty formation porn there, although I doubt we'd be able to get Samba, Gervinho and a top quality target man though, unless Ashley is going to make some serious funds available. Maybe 2 of the 3.

Doubt he'll take #10, 7's his favourite number and he supposedly wanted 77, compromised to 37.

This will be good but we'll need to sign a really good quality striker

    Hell yes to these.
    Sow up front? Possibly

Thought he wanted the number 10 shirt, it being the playmakers number and such ?

    He wanted 10 but as that was taken he took 37 (3 + 7 = 10)

Yeah I heard he asked for 55 (5 + 5) at first but they said this was too high. Crazy boy.

Yeah, I'd expect him to change next season, probably to 10, but we'll probably have 9, 10 and 11 available for new signings

10 will probably go to Ben Arfa yeah. Already excited about a Ben Arfa 10 change/3rd shirt haha. Doubt 9 will go to anyone just yet. 11's up for grabs from new signings then I suppose.

Hopefully they won't just give someone the no. 9 for the sake of it, it has to be someone who deserves it

Isn't 7 Wor Joey's number? Don't think Hatem will fancy going toe-to-toe with Joey for it <laugh>

I heard something along these lines - the madman.

Doubt #9 will be given away. But yeah, 11 to Gervinho, 10 to Hatem?

Not sure if I've ever triple quoted before! <diva>

Aye yeah 11 to Gervinho or new striker. Assuming we get Gervinho of course! Hasn't Gervinho got some crazy number at Lille though? I heard that anyway
Hmm, Ben Arfa 10 shirt or Gervinho number shirt? It's a tricky decision..

And yeah I triple quoted earlier, feel a bit god-like!
