And when did Lord Turnbull become an expert on Bombs?

On that Monday Chief Petty Officer Lee Yates, a Royal Navy bomb disposal expert, arrived at Greenock police station to examine the Lennoxtown package. Yates field tested the liquid from the device and obtained a positive result for some of the components of Triacetone Triperoxide, a powerful explosive. In testimony CPO Yates stated that in his opinion the presence of explosives made it not a "hoax" but a package with "all the components of an improvised explosive device."

It was this, along with other information that led to Strathclyde police to issue a public warning for prominent people associated with Celtic Football Club to be on their guard for 'viable incendiary devices' . When the Northern Irish police were informed of the test results they employed a Belfast based based army bomb disposal team retreive the bottle of liquid from the Cairde na hEireann package, place it behind blast walls and destroy it with burning diesel fuel.

    ---------------------------
Lord Turnbull was simply stating that in this case that the legal judgement said it was not "Viable".

Whose word do you trust more, a Bomb Disposal expert or a Defence QC?

During the case the defence argued their clients innocence of the basis that the packages they had sent out were not explosive devices. Donald Findlay QC, for Neil McKenzie, argued that you could no more make these explode that you could "swim the English Channel by standing in Dover and staring at France." The Crown's case was that if these were merely hoax bombs why had the men taken the time and trouble to manufacture an explosive chemical and place it inside?

It was this argument, that the men had meant the packages to explode but lacked the skill to achieve this, that the jury found proven.

If I hired someone with no experience or skill in firearms to shoot someone - and he missed or forgot to load his rifle, do you think the law would have allowed me to argue that it was not attempted murder because the assassin was not up to the job?

This was a joke of a decision, but that is Scots Law for you.

Technically, the two in bold were only targetted by other, as yet unnamed, huns.

Of course there is no evidence that it was Rangers fans who sent them bullets, it was probably Celtic fans trying to garner sympathy.

Unbelievabley, this was the common line on 606 at the time.

McCourt's bullet was discovered a day after the rest and that day consisted of "Why wasn't McCourt sent wan? Must be disgruntled Tims."

But one of the original Bombers admitted in court that he was in fact a lapsed taig. <GIRVANSTHEOSIS>

Every chance that McCourt and McGinn were targeted by provos because they play for a British Institution?

When someone phoned the IFA saying that Lennon would be killed if he played for NI again the Huns blamed Celtic fans even though the caller used a recognised code.

When someone painted on a wall at Windsor Park that Lennon will be killed Huns said it must have been a Celtic fan who sneaked over from the Falls.

Never accept responsibility. For anything. Craig Whyte, David Murray etc all at fault but never Rangers and their fans lust for success regardless of the cost.
