Reading this old article reminds me of the massive Highs and the lows but the highs out way the lows for me anyway http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/HULL-CITY-Z-Phil-Brown/story-11964359-detail/story.html
I honestly think he's in the frame. He's the last manager we wouldve employed a week ago but things have changed immeasureably since then. I can even see a return for the Duffman as HoFO.....
I hope so I think people have short memories about what he achieved for us and how dedicated he was to the club and how gutted he was when he was sacked, which in my opinion cost us another season in the premier league if a manager is offered cash to spend they will spend. He was not to blame for the financial melt down.
I'd have Brown back if Barmby doesn't come back, at least he has a proud history with the club and maybe learnt from his mistakes.
why does our club have the uncanny ability to produce dans obsessed with the past... ? whether it'd be players or managers some cannot help but think that digging up the past is the only solution forward. I really feel this is primarily due to our PL bandwagon fans who cannot accept that we have moved on. I'm greatful or PB's achievement but will always see it as a fluke/one off... he quickly proved he was out of his depth after a fast start in the PL and also through his inability to secure a decent job now. if he was that good he wouldn't be available to consider. his job at preston was similar the one he did with us. impactful arrival with a few wins and then it all crumbles. he is not what we need and you lot need to start moving on seriously it's borderline embarrassing.
totally agree brownie was great for us and i was also gutted when he got sacked i would love him back here
Good Idea.. maybe we can go 2 seasons without an away win... Doh... Please god dont let it be Phil Brown....
Fine to remember the upside of Brown but lets not forget his downside. He was technically inept in the Premiership, had some awful signings, refused to forgive or use players who upset and towards the end was more intersted in promoting himself rather than keeping the team promoted
i know i will get shot down and told i'm talking bs but if the two options are brown or dowie i would go for dowie. if he was given the transfer budget and a full season with support from the fans i believe he could get the club in the play-offs.
If your nostalgic for those Brownie moments I posted something on page 2 of the forum ( entitled Brown forgot about this) or something of the sort. It is basically a spoof story of a year in the life of City under Brown and I think it is hilarious. Unfortunately it is quite long so you have to have a bit of time to read it which is probably why no one has bothered, but if you have the time and want cheering up have a look.
dont think my love for brownie is any secret, and despite me always saying id love it if he came back, in reality i probably wouldnt... achieving what he did before would be near to impossible, he wouldnt get a fair crack from a lot of fans, and id rather have the great memories.
I would absolutely LOVE Phil Brown back as manager. Some of the away games in the first season in the premier league were some of the best moments of my life.
I must admit I wouldn't be too upset if PB came back, very suprised certainly. I think he was maybe led astray by duffman but had the club at heart. I would like to think with some better management control he could still do a job.
Dalgleish was great for Liverpool. Keegan was great for Newcastle. I'd love it if Phil Brown came back, love it. But a niggling thought keeps telling me to move forward, appreciate past glories - don't try to recreate them - create new glories. Kind of like the hot chick that you never thought you would ever land, but did, for one night only...savour the memories, find new glories.
Phil Brown was fantastic as our manager - and I still think that he would have kept us up if he wasn't sacked. However, i'm still a little dubious about whether he should be reappointed. Going back doesn't always work - and it wouldn't be nice to lessen his reputation (even though some fans have already done that). If he was reappointed, I certainly wouldn't complain - but I wouldn't actively campaign for him to come back. I still have a little hope that Barmby might be starting the season as our manager.
