Ask Warnock! I don't know what he's thinking. And I'm not falling for propaganda, I'm reading direct Warnock quotes. He's his own man. Always was, always will be. He'll never be Bates mouthpiece (unless he agrees, of course!).

Maybe because he's a young player who's likely to improve, he's got the quality, but he played 46 games this season. Why? Nobody else good enough in the centre of midfield to challenge him for his place. It happens, players get complacent, especially young ones once they feel they've got their place.

Clayton has a lot more to offer, and I sincerely doubt anyone we can get using the undoubtedly low feel we'll receive + the wages freed up will be any better.

Fair point until you notice the change in tone from Warnock in the last few weeks. Moving towards bates ideal, fantasy world more and more.

NO that is not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is, don't expect Leeds to go anywhere as long as they are here<ok>

Clayton's worth every penny of the £9 pw he's reportedly asking for, especially if that matches Pugh's salary. The listing of our best young CM takes the gloss off the Pearce signing for me. One step forward, one step back.
Clayton's our future, and he will become more consistent the older he gets. His performances obviously tailed off as the season drew to a close, but surely that's to be expected at his age, having to carry the dross surrounding him on his young shoulders for much of the season. Even if Warnock feels he's not good enough yet to be a regular starter, I can't see how he'd get anyone better as a back-up CM on £3 pw. Even if we lose him for nothing when his contract runs out, surely we're better off keeping him for a year rather than accepting a pittance for him now.
In answer to the original question 'In Colin we trust?' People are placing trust in Warnock the guy who's achieved promotion 7 times, but managers sometimes lose their ability seemingly overnight. Even Wilko managed to guide us to 17th place a year after making us Champions of England. Who's to say Warnock still has the magic touch?
As it stands our central midfield looks decimated, Clayton listed, Brown yet to accept reduced terms, and Thompson to go out on a season-long loan, leaving only Danny Pugh.
It's difficult for me to place complete trust in a manager who took over a team who were only 3 points off a play off place when Grayson was sacked, told everyone he couldn't wait till the season ended, proceeded to accumulate 13 points from his 14 games in charge, didn't stop us conceding goals but stopped us scoring, and finally places our best young prospect on the transfer list.

Claytons 3k a week isn't far off Harveys salary and 9k a week is 500k a year, quite a bit more than Harvey. Either way, why does Harvey get a 70% payrise despite being useless, yet one of our best players gets left out in the cold? Sounds like the bank managers who use bailout money to give themselves massive bonuses for holding off liquidation for another month in spite of them causing the danger, then making it up by cutting costs with redundancies and wage cuts of hard working people.
