This shows how open League 1 is (and the Championship for that matter). I fancy Huddersfield (though there may be a fall out from last seasons disappointment), Charlton and MK Dons. Brentford may have an outside chance of top 6.
No one saw Stevenage coming did they. It's been pretty much as expected other than that, and perhaps Scunthorpe.
Yeah. I always wish Exeter City well too. Actually, I don't quite know why I do. It maybe due to boyhood holidays in Cornwall, and feeling like I was not that far away, while we were motoring past Exeter, I don't know, but I do. I like Exeter. It about time Exeter did well, there you go, that's enough reason. I want AFC Bournemouth to make the playoffs. I don't give a gnat's wotsit that their chairman is a PR idiot, I just want some more representation of the South Coast in higher leagues. The fact that it is closer to home in Southampton, is all the better. Charlton Athletic have League One to lose now. Sheff Utd look as though they might last the distance, and I think Huddersfield deserve promotion, after doggedly being there or thereabouts for some while now. I remember seeing, season after season, Preston NE narrowly failing to be promoted into the PL. In the end, the fight went out of them and now they are in League One. I don't like to see that kind of demise. Hudders to be promoted.
Looking back, theres some really good predictions on this thread. Was L1 easy to read this time round?
Ha forgot about this Had Charlton in my lucky 15 bet I do for the winners of each division, so thats good, unfortunately my other picks were Man City, M'Boro and Bristol Rovers :/ Should make a little bit if Man City win the Prem though so not all bad. Really want Stevenage to go up aswell so I look psychic
Good initial predictions from HR. I wonder if he paid a visit to the bookies with a couple of shiny 50p coins back in August?
No, I just about stick a quid on the national each time it comes around, but thats about it for betting excitement from me. Though, a little smugness from getting it right is better than a few beans sometimes, my picks were pretty darn good if I don't say so myself......(thanks for noticing )
I think so. I was wildly off with Preston, but apart from that I wasn't too far away. Always suspected that the likes of B'mouth, Rochdale and Orient were just one season wonders last year, whilst Charlton, MK Dons, Huddersfield and the two Sheffield clubs are all some distance clear of the rest, which is something which was quite obvious from the start. Next season could be quite interesting though, as assuming that three of those five do go up, then I'd say that none of their replacements (ie Pompey, Donny and Conventry) are nailed on certainies for promotion. When you take into account the players who will leave (I'm looking at you Pompey and Donny), all three would need to stregthen their squads substantially to make themselves obvious candidates. If B'mouth can splash a bit more of their Russian cash, and get themselves a decent manager to lead them, then next season could be their window of opportunity. Good luck to them.
Let's all go slumming with histree? In fact I sincerely wish we were going to play in it next season. Grounds, players, fans and the football appeal to me more when money's not such a major part of the equation.
Be careful what you wish for. Like any business, it's hard to stand still. Southampton's basic costs are so high that we have to be in the PL or possibly the Championship if we downgraded our players. Then we would begin to lose and League 1 wouldn't be fun anymore. I enjoyed League 1 but we could only afford to stay there because we were subsidised.
Delighted for Sheffield Wednesday and Dave Jones. Just seen their highlights on the Football League Show. And to Michail Antonio who can celebrate two promotions this season!
Well he can if he wants to, but I'm sure he'll have the decency not to celebrate with the Reading players, considering he barely featured for them.
Still, he'll be a Premier League player next season if they want him. That's a cause for celebration.
Why didn't we want Antonio back? I rated him highly in our L1 season. really wanted him to sign permanently.
