Hello everyone at STFC, Sitting here on my laptop and only having the internet as connection to the Football World...... I was wondering as we are heading to newer heights and bigger and better things, Do we need to bring in new players and would Mr R.W start to open that cheque book of his and spend some money. I believe that to break even, Town needed a gate of 3,800 every match and that has been far higher then that so just in gate receipts.... Town should have a few quid. I like to start the ball rolling with Goalkeepers.... Neal has a great year by the sound of things with a few errors but in all, He has had a ok season with some great saves. I like to see a Goalie come in with experience in League One and above which after looking on the Net this week, I see that Joe Lewis who was a up and coming Keeper a few years ago and was looking at going to the World Cup in 2010 after England went short on Keepers. A goalie that cost Posh £400k two seasons ago in which he has just been released and is free and available????? Another one that is on the net at the moment is the Legend David James who been released by Bristol City, Just reading a comment from himself...... He believe's that there is still a season or Two in the old dog yet...... Yes, He maybe 41 but he has got experience and he knows about pressure and could bring a lot to the team. What do you thing, Do we need any keepers as I have only had the odd game on tv and the rest on here to keep up with STFC???? Do we need any strikers or midfielders, please let me know?
I have heard a rumour that Luke Daniels is being released by West Brom and he would be a great signing to give Neal some competition (I think Smith will be released). I am also expecting Ainsworth, Regan and Sean Mcallister to be released with David Mcallister joining permanently. I think we will need a striker (Grabban would be nice but Richards from Vale is more likely) plus cover at full back and in midfield. I do not think GT will change things too much as we had a very strong team and work ethic throughout last season and that should give us a solid base for stability in League 1.
if we are considering david james, ought we not include grobellar, clemmence and bob wilson. david james has had a rotten season with city and is so far over the hill, he is digging a pit the other side. i think neal has much to offer in L1, and i suspect ben smith may move on. what town need next season is 2 lads up front who can connect the ball with the back of the net. apart from jamie collins our strikers have approached woeful and it has been midfield and defence who have kept town still in the game and vitally up the league
I wouldn't pay any attention to the rumours flying around as they invariably prove incorrect. Grabban is one such. Reputedly going for £300k probably to Swindon. Is he worth that kind of money? Not from what I have seen Strange that Lewis has been released-something afoot there? Daniels I suspect will end up where he is on loan at the moment.I cannot see the Sheff Utd McAllister coming here as the Blades have only relatively recently signed him. Virtually all our signings in the GT era have not been predicted apart from Ainsworth. Don't be surprised at whatever rabbits are pulled from the hat.
Agreed KDS - I doubt many will have seen the signings we make coming. A Vale fan I was speaking to recently said that Marc Richards does just enough. Makes me even less interested in us signing him than I was. aj you're far too harsh on our strikers. All of them were regularly out of the starting XI at some point but three managed to reach double figures nevertheless. Gornell's partnership with Collins looks to be developing really well at present, Morgan has a knack of making things happen and Bradshaw has time on his side. One new striker maybe but I'm generally very happy with what we have there. We either need Ainsworth re-engaged or a new wide player. Another central midfielder and a full back too as we were stretched pretty thinly with injuries at times. I'd be surprised to see any of our ex-keepers return and Neal deserves his chance in League 1. I expect Lewis is looking for a higher level club and I can't imagine we could afford James' wages.
How about Matty Harrold? A good quality League 2 signing, has scored 18 league goals so far this season
the tinpots understand newly promoted luton town are bidding for matty h. 3 sacks of carrots and an eric morecambe script
Gas man......... Your team will always be in the shadow of really the only team in Bristol and that is City. A few years ago, I was something that you are now.... a WUM. Matt Harold might had scored 18 goals this year but that is only because there is no one else in your shabby and semi-professional team that can score..... Come back to us when you have achieved something apart from relegation. STFC FOREVER
And you have achieved what? oh of course, promotion to league one for the first time. Congrats on that one Good luck Strawberry Fields, you will need it
Look at the league 2 list, half the 18+ goal scorers are at teams such as barnet. How us useful is it if they are the only one who scores. How many fouls has Matty caused this season? He's a good player amd we were partly supprised with him being moved on, but we got creativity in return.
He isn't the only scorer. If it wasn't for ****le early days we would have done ok this season. We have players in our defence (L. Brown) scoring nearly as many as your second best goal scorer this season
Well we have achieved promotion and we achieved it by having good players and staff with a cracking owner....... He been there through the good and bad times and I am so pleased for the man we call Mr RW, If anyone is going to in enjoy this party on Sunday.... Its him.
I have had a soft spot for the Shrews since the play offs. I banter with you all regularly, but I really do mean it when I say well done and good luck in league one See you in a couple of years
