It might just be me but I wouldn't mind if he left. Apart from scoring from quite a way out he doesn't offer loads more. Doesn't tackle, gets lost in games. Reminds me of geo, a luxury which comes with its own liabilities.

Nah, I wouldnt mind but for different reasons. He's a great player but is getting on, is on a good wage and will start to talk to other clubs come Jan and leave for free anyway. Pure economics and sound business sense would say we should sell for anything above £1m

Funny how our dip in form in March coincided with him being injured though, isn't it?

Yeah because his goals weren't there. Though if he got stuck in helping the midfield more we could have snatched a few more winds.

You mean like in the 5 game winless streak that saw us drop 10 points at a key stage of the season between late Feb early March?

Edit - in case that's too subtle he played in every one of these games. People really do get ideas in their head without actually backing them up with fact.

Should sell..its only because of our current strikers goalless streaks he actually stood out with his goals. His price surely inflated, snap anyones hand hand off with a £750k+ offer.

Er No..... more like the defeats against Leicester, Portsmouth, Coventry, Millwall at the back end of March/Beginning of April ......... the game he came back, (Middlesboro ironically) we did win!

Oh I see - so when talking about how form dipped when he didnt play we completely ignore the 5 game winless streak just prior when he did play.

    That works then.

The evidence there would suggest to me that we were just in bad form and individuals made no difference whatsoever.

Still think that when he's on the field we have far more options than when he's not but hey, its only my opinion mate (and yours!!)

Yep that it is correct. I also think we managed a couple of goals whilst Koren was out and certainly didn't manage a single point.
In a team clearly lacking a cutting edge and one that is desperately short of goals I'm perplexed that people think it's a good idea to sell our main creative outlet.
Especially for a fee that wouldn't go anywhere near to replacing him.
If silly money is being offered then any player is available at any club, I just don't want to see him go on the cheap, I don't want him to go full stop.

He's two years younger than Frank Lampard and a year younger than Scott Parker. How many think they are over the hill.
As for him not getting stuck in? We play with what are essentially two holding, defensive midfielders, what do you think their job is?
Maybe we should play three and just go for clean sheets.

I'm not being patronising but if you take time to watch Koren he does a lot more than meets the eye.
His positioning and movement alone creates space and chances that we simply don't have when he's not playing.

For what it's worth I think Koren will leave and let's see how we do without him next season.

I'm with you on this, at least in those drawn games we were creating chances which is more than can be said during that 5 game losing streak! And at least 2 of those 5 draws (Brum and Blackpool away) were good results. It was blindingly obvious in that 5 game losing streak how poor we looked without Koren.

Whatever the stats, the reality is that we look a far weaker team when Koren isn't playing, that's not a misconception, I sat/stood and watched.

You'd think it was blindingly obvious but evidently not.

Why would you want to sell one of our better players? His goals earned us 3 points on numerous occassions last season otherwise we'd lower midtable easy.

Waht an awful argument "apart form scoring he does nothing for the team". His and Fryatt's goals gave us a platform to improve on next season.

I'm fine with the talk about Stewart leaving. Koren, on the otherhand, at least gives us something extra.

I also think we're a better team with him in it and never said otherwise. I was just pointing out that associating a bad run to him being absent is clearly wrong.

BECAUSE HE IS GOING TO WALK FOR FREE THIS TIME NEXT YEAR. In Jan he'll talk to other clubs and then his heart wont be in it, desperately avoiding injury at all costs. People really need to not confuse my comments with thinking he isnt great for us. Indeed, my opening comment said exactly this!

Are we going to get in a tizz everytime there's some report about any of our players by treating it like it's the gospel truth and from highly reliable sources?

We have an uncertainty over our managerial position.
Koren's agent has said to the press about.

Now this might have got Mowbray's attention, but if you were the local reporter, writing about a team managed by one of Koren's former managers, and trying to sell some papers to that team's fans during the close season don't you think a story linking them with the star player for the team who finished immediately below them would be a good way to do it?

We all complain about, or laugh at how woeful the press as a whole are about getting our signings right, yet when some media source we've never heard of before writes something like this everyone is convinced it's true. How accurate has the northern echo been in the past?

And what if we start doing well next season? Then what?

We're Hull City mate. We;re not going to be to attract the better calibre players the likes of West Ham do. There's not many better in this division than Koren. We lose that experience in the squad, we might as forget doing well and plan for midtable obscurity.

But then again, this is City and we've never been that ambitious.
