You dont bore me sb. Sounds good that captain beefheart. IMO this thread is nice change for all that guessing what is going to happen in two last rounds.
SB, Captain Beefheart Trout Mask Replica I can listen to every day and never tire of it. It will always be fresh and surprising. So glad he existed.
I just read that someone mentioned Boney M..?...wtf......hahahahahahaha...was that you Igor? fav song - Dock of a bay Otis reading followed by Wild Wood - Paul Weller Fav Group UB40 - the old stuff Best Artist - Got to be the Marley man Fav Albumn - Most Ministry stuff (you old farts know what that is ?) Fav type of music - plenty of bas in your face, uncha uncha uncha music Nice one drop on sorted !! Fav music based film - Human Traffic AVE IT !!
Is that the Ministry of Defence? Or perhaps the Ministry of Health and Social Security? No, it must be the Ministry of Silly Walks!... Well, the title of this thread is 'And now for something completely different'!...
Yes it was me queenslander. Just one of my litlle pervertions..... Seriously i put it there just to show how awful the dance/discomusic is nowadays with ladygagas ,rihannas and not the mention about that technos**t. Boney M was awful at the time but compared with dance/discomusic nowadays it sounds like art.
Thank you all for posting on this thread, I thought It might take our minds of the hoops survival for a bit. Now a lot of bands have been posted, what about that great WELSH! rock band BUDGIE?
Well ,i did have a couple budgie albums in those days. Here's budgie in a tv 1975. Rock on! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=pkEzheXSbM4
Any band that has a song called 'In the grip of a tyrefitter's hand' has to be good!...
This superb song was a hit when i reserved my first trip to london so there was suitable music to hear while waiting for the trip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=pkEzheXSb When i finally arrived to london spring 1980 this was a number one hit and it was played everywhere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=pkEzheXSbM4 It still sounds great
Igor, cant disagree with ya mate.....Brown girl in the ring sounds a bit "non-pc" now though doesnt it !! Ministry of silly walks...a classic sketch...Some people dont get the genius that is John Cleese do they? Surprised we've missed out the genre of Ska....Most defining music of my upbringing. The likes of desmond dekker, toots and the mytalls (best tune ever in "This is England"- Louie Louie) were always on the "record player" in my home. loads of old trajan and blue beat 45's still in storage in England with my name on ! DONT PANIC - LISTEN TO SKA !(unless you can pass it to Faurlin)
Also...what about Soul, Mowtown, R&B, and here's the deal breaker...anyone like reggae? Personally love it !
In the late 60's and 70's I used to go every Friday and Saturday to the Marquee Club in Wardour street, seen some realy class bands including Pink Fairies, UFO, Alex Harvey, AC/DC, Budgie, Judas Priest, to name a few, great times...What about Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath? Great bands
For me this is reggae: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=43cfPgZ8cU8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=43cfPgZ8cU8 Exodus is a great album and Bob Marley was a real dreadlock jah master!
The Pink Fairies were awesome. The godfathers of punk?
