Lampard was England's top scorer in qualifiers...for Euro 2004.

At least his form for England is similar to that at Chelsea - do **** all most of the time, but occasionally pop up on the edge of the area and thrash a loose ball into the back of the net.

And? stats do not impress me, I am talking about players who affect games by their performance. You can stand idly by for 89 minutes and then score, ok the goal is always important but a 'midfield general' needs to make a big difference or go.

That is what I was implying - yet he's apparently an indispensable member of the all-conquering England unit.

    Which doesn't conquer anyone...

    Nor is it a unit...

Roy Hodgson the wrong appointment for England say Germans as Harry Redknapp wins their vote
Senior figures in German football have expressed surprise at the Football Association's choice of England manager, and suggested that the organisation's lengthy delay in making the appointment not only weakened the new man's hand, but ''would never have happened in Germany''.

The media is just miffed that the FA took no notice of them. Good!

Maybe they can get it into their heads that:

    1. They don't run the game.
    2. It's their job to tell us about the game, nothing more.
    3. They don't speak for anybody but themselves.

We had a BBC series made in the village I live in. They were so up their own arses it was unbelievable, they have swallowed the idea that they are important.

Millions spent on what turned out to be a pile of crap. That nobody gave a flying F about.

BTW don't ask me what the series was because it would give away where I live and for all sorts of reasons I would prefer to keep that to myself. <ok>

Anyone know where they filmed Lark Rise to Candleford?

As for the media not being important in regards to football, take away the Sky cash and the Premier League will crumble into insignificance overnight (and we can thank a certain A. Sugar Esq. for this chain of events...)

We should follow Germany`s example and do away with multi tournament failures like Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand and Terry, and pick a young team which can use the Euros to build a team for the next World Cup.

The German press were on Klinsmann's back in the run-up to the 2006 World cup, though.
