    What does he know!

    and

He would say that wouldn't he.

It's just a coincidence that we play crap when Capello resigns until Roy is appointed isn't it?

I'm glad Redknapp's staying but I think that once Hodgson loses a game or two as England boss the clamour from the press for 'Arry for Ingerland' will cause the whole problem to happen again and the circus was bad this time round and will be worse next time round. Harry needs to sign a long term contract and state that he does not want the England job or he should leave as we need stability throughout our club.

to me it just proves the point that the players actually thought he was leaving for England...so they were quiet and were not putting their eggs in any basket incase it jeopordised their prospects with Harry or his predecsor...and that took their eye off the ball..now that we know he has just signed a new contract...not too long ago and England is gone they are saying such and VDV did...i dont blame him..as Spurf said..what else is he to say..if he is asked the question.

I think it just proves the fans right....now the players know the score and they have started playing like the good ol Spurs of the early season

I really don't see what other players thought has to do with this thread, it's about VdV, and he said he was staying regardless, before even Hodgson knew about Hodgson, or whether we get CL or not...I was merely pointing out a bit of rare loyalty these days, and he does mention managerial continuity.

If sincerity is being questioned by the replies so far, I don't think you can question VdV's.

If the anti Harry lobby think we can afford anybody who will "take us to the next level" (although the "next level" seems to involve either finding one of the richest men in the world to buy your club or winning the Premiership countless times and having the best Manager in the history of the English game,) they are deluded. I am glad he has not been chosen for the England job, although if he had been, I would rather he had gone sooner. My guess is, after he sees the press make mincemeat out of Hodgson, he won't touch the England job with a bargepole. The speculation MUST have had an effect on the club. The change in the players is almost like flicking a switch.

Nice to hear(read) that from Rafa, hopefully others will follow suit. Had a glance thru the comments below the article, **** me but they're worse than JA606. How do these people operate a PC is beyond me.

  8. I'm going to see where and how we finish this season, before I confirm whether or not I am prepared to forgive Harry and certain players. The jury is still out for me.

    VDV <ok>

He's a great guy and I think we take him for granted sometimes, like 'Arry :)

Lucky we signed VDV at the perfect time as while he is still considered to have world class talent, he is at the stage of his career were I cant see any of the super clubs signing him, even tho he could play for any team and he clearly enjoys playing for us and I expect to see him stay at spurs until the late stages of his career.

As for players speaking out, it would have been wrong if players had come out stating "arry has to stay" "he should turn his back on england" instead the best thing was for everyone to keep quiet but because our form suffered it became clear the speculation and uncertainty was effecting the team.

Now the speculation has finished, all that matters is we get our form back, the players are smiling again and we get back on track and we put the past 2 months behind us.

    take Harry for granted?

i think it was Harry taking Spurs for granted and he was proven right.

flirt with the FA...take his eye off the Spurs project....it was like the fkin elections the way he got the media bandwagon going...it was win win for him..either he gets his dream job or he sticks with a good job at Spurs....

and you say Spurs fans took Harry for granted?

more like pissd off because he took Spurs for granted....we werent wanting to get rid of Harry solely based on the fact that we thought we could get a better manager.....it was because he was taking the piss with his demeanour.

what makes someone not back their manager?

id say 2 things in general:
    1) bad performances
    2) bad ettiquette

he showed both..so i dont blame anyone questioning him...alot of us are in love with Spurs not Harry...however if he does his job and even if he fails miserably but shows some class...then i , for one will back him or any other man to the hilt.

however i agree alot of people take VDV for granted and put him firmly behind Modders and Bale...i for one dont..and lauded him in the 'player of the year' thread...he is the Marquee player and i still recall that tremendous feeling the day we signed him...and in our slump..he is the one man that was grafting...and in a period that has been black for us...it was VDV talking about his love affair with Spurs...whilst Bale was hinting at an exit.

loyalty is important to me...infact has become inbred in us as Spurs fans since we havent had much else to shout about for many a year...so it must be something other than Glory hunting that keeps us coming back for more....we all want what is best for Spurs......Harry always wants what is best for him...it is in his intrest to knuckle down and therefore he will and already has in our last 2 games.

I think VdV benefits from having a lot more experience and maturity than Bale and to a certain extent Modric. Madrid was supposed to be Van der Vaart's dream move but during his time there both his personal life and playing career suffered. I think moving to London has given him more stability in his personal life and he may be willing to sacrifice playing for a 'big club' due to this.

Bale and Modders have never played for one of the world's top clubs, so they may not understand that the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side, as Rafa experienced.

Wonder where we would be in the league had Crapello not resigned, sitting comfortably in 3rd probably.

Who knows Cockerel, every team has a bad spell, why should we be immune? HR does have his faults, but I am more pro stability than anything, I'd rather the devil I know, than the devil I don't at this point in time.

Arry wanted the England job, he and everyone else thought he was getting it, bound to affect the team.

He never said I am not going anywhere, he should have even if he wanted to go. He instilled uncertainty at the club and it is a shame you'll never know how it would have turned out this season without that disruption. Those above you have dropped a fair few points during your bad spell.

I'd sh!t can harry now for not coming out and saying right off the bat, I aint goin nowhere
