Yep it was. But then so was the Delap goal against Spurs in 04. Cole is a decent Championship striker IMO but I recon its laughable to say he's up there with the best (and not just of the Championship).
So the fact that there were some good goals means he is the best CF in the world? Ok. Ok. Seriously????
'On his day' can be used to support any view in football for ****s sake. Of course a professional footballer in the upper echelons of the football league will have a good day here and there. Truly great strikers are consistently good, Cole is definitely not consistent as proven by his mediocre tally in the Championship. Rickie Lambert on his day is the best CF in the world. Kelvin Davis on his day is the best Goalkeeper in the world. Piss off with the 'on his day' bollocks.
Cole has scored 10 goals in the premier league and has held his own in the top flight.I think Cole could of been a better player than he currently is,if he worked as hard as other players like our own Rickie Lambert he would be a top,top player.
Surely motivation and hardwork is part of how good a player is? It's no good using if's and but's, the facts are that Carlton Cole has a relatively average goalscoring record, and has never fulfilled his proclaimed potential. Carlton Cole is essentially a decent player, but not a patch on Lambert.
Yes,it is and it's no good using if's and but's. Cole has all the attributes to be a great player and he just didn't make the most of them and work on his game.He does show odd glimpses of this at times... He is not a patch on Lambert and that's down to the fact that Lambert has worked very hard to become the player he is and Cole has relied on his natural talents such as pace (Lambert doesn't have),power and strength. Join the two together and you've got a perfect striker.
So you're admitting that it was stupid to say that on his day he is the best striker in the world? Especially as players like Drogba, even when they aren't at their best, eclipse him completely? Cheers, nice debating about a person that plays football with you.
Damn, forgot this game was on today and went out drinking. Happy with that result because, as much as West Ham annoy me, Cardiff annoy me more. As for the Cole debate, he reminds me of Kenwyne Jones - tons of talent but can't be arsed to use it. Definitely nowhere near best striker in the world though. Probably wouldn't make my top 100 (Please don't make me name my top 100).
Tough one. I'm going for proper strikers, so not including very attacking midfielders/ wide forwards like Messi and Ronaldo. Here goes, in no particular order: Rooney Aguero Tevez Ibrahimovic Cisse Neymar Van Persie Falcao Llorente Higuain
I see you have missed out Rickie Lambert... I am afraid I can no longer take you seriously. Gomez is pretty good, too.
Ah ****, I knew I'd forgotten someone. Definitely throw Gomez in there instead of Llorente or Higuain.
