Couldn't you apply that to Gerrard's goal in the 2006 FA Cup final too...? Don't remember too many people calling that lucky
Or maybe I''l look at Cisses's own comments (linked in the post above.) Although, tbh, I either expect you to pretend he hasn't said it, or just not return to this thread.
Cisse has said he 'just wanted to hit it'. Has he got no footballing knowledge too? I don't think you've actually read any of the posts here properly, but simply skimmed them and surmised we all think the goal was flukey. I've said it was a brilliant goal, but that the swerve etc. was not fully intended. Cisse has confirmed as much.
Yep, no footballer has ever downplayed anything before have they. Of course we expected him to come out and say he meant it as thats what all players do.....oh wait, no they ****ing dont. And awww, are you joining the moron brigade, trying personal insults and stuff, awww lovely stuff.
Because he was tired when he struck it makes the swerve (made by the outside of his boot) unintentional?
Thankyou. It for reasons like this and the other genuinely good posters aswell as my thread that I come on here. Its a good laugh and there is no Matth creating the same thread 50 times a second. Bellends like some on here can swivel though. They embarrass themselves and the decent posters, much like the old KPR days.
Plus, IMO, the fact that he felt tired and was short of energy makes the goal that much better! Edit: see my comment about Gerrard and the 2006 FA Cup final
Pal, there are some genuinely special people on here. Dont let it cloud your views though, most are decent posters. All we know is everyone else thinks he meant it and that it was ****ing amazing.
Man UTD have had more success than LFC, yet a lot of them have a lot of reason and general knowledge of Football, let alone class.
He never takes his eyes off the ball either, he does move back into position as he should because if Cech saves if then hes way out of position and he would of got a bollocking from Pardew at full time I suspect.
To be fair, you can't say he meant it when he has said he just hit it. But, as I have clearly said above, it does not diminish the quality of the goal.
As I said he may not of pictured it exactly like that, who does, hes no mystic meg after all ( can Newcastle fans clear this up? ) but he went to strike, from that position. ****, what sort of lunatic does that. If hes just hoofing it then is he not intending to time waste? He took a strike, from that angle and distance to get it on target for starters is something, to score is something else completely. Cisse meant this. Hes just not full of himself to big it up like its his greatest ever achievement. He was just doing what he gets paid to do.
Rooney has gone on to say it was goal of the season, as has most experts who have spoken of it. I'm more than happy with there plaudits tbh.
I agree, but do you not see why others are arguing? He intended a shot at goal which is what it ended up being, but he never intended for it to go in the corner or lob the keeper, it was a hit and hope shot. Like Gerrard's against West Ham in the dying minutes of the 2006 FA Cup final, he said afterwards that he was suffering from cramp and struggling to get about the pitch. When the ball came to him he didn't have the energy to take it down and look for a pass so he just hit it. It was a bloody fantastic goal. I don't care whether Cisse meant it or not, its quite simply a fantastic goal. But I can see what others are getting at too.
Sure I agree but I see no reason to bring it up. I dont think any player pictures a goal exactly how its scored, to many factors that could effect bit even slightly. When footballers and pundits around the world are praising it then like you say, who cares. Lets just enjoy what is likely to be the sort of goal we may never see again.
I wasn't even talking to you mate. In fact, I've actually said myself, earlier in this thread, what you've just said.
