If you had the chance to go back in time and change ONE incident from any match, what would it be and how do you think it would have affected the match? Would you disallow Diego Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal? Would you allow Frank Lampard's infamous 'ball crossed the line' goal to stand? Would you make Gazza's outstretched foot make contact with the ball and put England 2-1 up against the Germans?
For which incident though JWM. Was it for the reckless challenge? or The deliberate Handball? (which i don't blame anybody for trying to get away with it) or Deliberately getting Delaney sent off (please see above) or Just for being a fat ****!
Anyway, back in the real world and answering your question Supers I would offer Beckham's stupid kick against Argentina where he got sent off. We had a decent chance in that cup and his sending off killed our chances pretty much there and then. Pillock!
All four and for having that ridiculus moustache! Movember or no Movember it was an affront to style and common decency!
Seriously, I would go for gazza' tackle against Gary Charles in the FA Cup final. That seriously ****ed up one of the greatest footballers this country has ever produced! And i'm not talking about Gary Charles!
agree. apart from euro04 and euro96, probably the best chance england have had of winning something since 66. we still should have won the game - sol campbell's disallowed goal could be another nomination!
I would have stopped Bosko Jancovic from scoring the winner against us in 1981 which prevented us from winning the championship!
you've nailed the one that would be at the top of my list. we'll never know how good he could have become.
If Peter Bonetti had saved Beckenbauers tame effort instead of letting it roll under his body, we may have gone on to face Brazil in the 1970 WC Final and though that Brazil side were arguably the greatest side ever to play football, we may just have had a shout of winning and retaing the trophy.
Maybe more to the point IF Alf hadn't subbed Bobby Charlton with only minutes to go we would have gone through! He was afterall effectively marking Beckenbauer!
ronald koeman should have been red-carded in the qualifier (1993? 1994?) that stopped us going to USA 94
More to the point, David bloody Platt staying on his feet instead of going down like he learnt in Italy
I would go back to 1966, Wembly, World Cup Final. I would put a camera on the goal line, just to prove something to all you doubters!! ILD OTBC
