Match Thread: Chelsea vs Liverpool - FA Cup Final

Afternoon fellas and welcome to the slightly early match thread for Saturday's big game against Liverpool in the FA Cup final! We enter this game after a downhearted defeat to Newcastle aswell as a Spurs win all but ending our chances of a top four finish. Two wondergoals from Cisse handed Newcastle a 2-0 win at our own ground.

Some key players were rested for the first half last night inlcuding Mata, Lampard, Drogba and Kalou who are all sure to feature this weekend. David Luiz is expected to make a return from injury although still a doubt to start the game. Gary Cahill is still out with a hamstring injury and other than that we seem ok.

Both teams going into this with near full strength line ups AND after midweek defeat. Form usually goes out the window in cup finals with all to play for!

With the exception of Luiz I think the rest is spot on, if Luiz is indeed out then Ivan will be moved into the middle with the dreaded scenario of Bosingwa playing. I've seen a lot of Scousers HOPE that Luiz plays, very foolish.

Just a guess, if any Liverpool fan sees this then stick what you think will be the line up on the match thread and I'll change it.

We all know how important the FA Cup is to us, I'm nervous about this one particularly as Liverpool have been our bogey team for ages now. I'm not going to bother with a prediction but on top of our game we are better than they are by a country mile.

I'm pretty certain that Drogba will start as well, but Torres must be pushing his nose through Roberto's office door and begging to play. Wouldn't put it past him to score against them as well. Add to the fact that Liverpool would be so desperate for him not to score, that they may place too much focus on him, giving more space & freedom to the rest of the team?

Another stressful day in a blue shirt. Bring it on

 

I can't see Bellamy starting as a second striker. IF he starts it'll be on one of the flanks. However, I reckon it's a certainty he'll come on with 20 to go to probably replace Downing.

 

liverpool are pretty cr*p at the moment but they are a very good cup side and are sure to turn it on in the final. i fear the worst.

If we go 442 Skrtel will def be in there, but cant drop Agger and I think he will want to play Carra (sweating blood and all that) so I do think he will go with 3 at the back

I said the other day that Torres should start, and it was pointed out about Drogba's Wembley love...I now have to agree, he should start but I would also say that maybe Torres on the right and Ramires left with Kalou on the bench may be a solution...he is keen as mustard at the moment and showed it last night.

Should be a good game we always attack each other, could be a classic. Luis Garcia with the winner.

Your predicted Liverpool 11 is most likely correct, but Gerrard will probably play in the hole behind Suarez, Bellamy left side, Downing right side and Hendo/Spearing in the middle. Carra almost a certainty to start instead of Skrtel, as you guessed, which is a massive worry for us pool fans. Hopefully he has one of his heroic games rather than a calamity one which we've seen this season a few times...

Should be a great match, scoreline will be very close. I can't see either team running away with it comfortably.

 

In a strange sort of way our result last night makes me think positive about Saturday! After all Robbie has done it seems impossible he (and the team) could even think about 2 losses on the bounce!

 

Keep seeing KTBFFH, and cant work out what it means.........
