Assuming all those on the transfer list actually leave, we have: 1 Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan 2 Goalkeeper Alex Cairns 3 Fullback â left Aidy White (may yet leave) 4 Fullback â left Charlie Taylor (youth) 5 Centre back Tom Lees (youth) 6 Centre back Paddy Kisnorbo (injured) 7 Centre back Leigh Bromby (injured) 8 Centre back 9 Fullback â right 10 Fullback â right 11 Right midfield Robert Snodgrass (may yet leave) 12 Right midfield Robbie Rogers 13 Centre midfield Zac Thompson (youth) 14 Centre midfield Danny Pugh 15 Centre midfield Michael Brown (may yet leave) 16 Centre midfield 17 Left midfield 18 Left midfield 19 Striker Luciano Becchio 20 Striker Ross McCormack (may yet leave) 21 Striker Davide Somma (injured) 22 Striker Youth Defender / midfielder Nathan Turner Youth Midfielder Simon Lenighan Youth Striker Dominic Poleon Youth Fullback â left Lewis Turner Youth Fullback - right Sam Byram Youth Centre back Ross Killock Youth Centre midfield Charlie Clamp Fair bit of work to develop a good tightknit squad, the right quantity, with the right quality to actually do anything other than stave off relegation Tough job you got there Colin, and the short-termism is what is screwing us over We will get to the Prem much faster if we build slowly
Its the vastly experienced Neil Warnock your talking about here, No big wins for you next season, expect a team of nasty b******s who will sweat blood for the cause, take no prisoners and run themselves into the ground for Colin, get your money on promotion now before the signings start arriving.
Lets not forget monty gimpel is available this season. warnock knows what hes doing! and im convinced whoever he brings in will be on long term deals! Build for the future Quality rather than quantity! I know people are claiming clayton is another 1 whos dug his heels in on a new contract! But to play 12/13 good games in your 1st season isnt worth paying big wages Maybe we dont realise how bad we actually were and that these so called good players of ours were mesmoring for what we could afford! We really players that want to wear this shirt with pure pride and will throw there body on the line for us!!
Cant see Gimpel being involved next season. Even if he is surely it will have to be a like for like swap with Lees? Surely there two young to pair together. Would be nice to see Gimpel involved though. I would be happy if he was in and around the squad getting a few sub appearances & maybe a cup run.
That list is already 22 strong. It includes 11 youth players, and 5 who are either currently injured long term or just coming back. The idea we can live with 22 players is far fetched - we need another 11 players minimum a) 1 goalkeeper b) 3 full backs c) 3 centre backs d) 3 or 4 midfielders e) 1 or 2 strikers Cloud cuckoo land. This is not building a team or club, this is killing one off. We do not have a spine, we do not have a system, we do not have a strategy in terms of a way of playing that all players will work towards - what we do have is the prospect of a very long and arduous season
Everyone's talking about "trusting Warnock" and talking about his experience etc. as if it's all down to him who we have to transfer list, who get's signed etc. Why will Warnock suddenly get his first/second choice targets where Grayson didn't?
You see it on twitter as well. People despise Diouf, but with the possibility of signing him it's changed to "well, I suppose we've got to trust Warnock...". Don't get me wrong, I do have faith in NW's abilities, but since when did that have to replace our own common sense?
Its not a case of replacing common sense, but until we start the season with the new squad we have to just trust in the fact that colin has had a lot of promotions and knows what he is doing !!!, we can all talk tactics and formations, also who we would like to see at ER, but the fact is he is a vastly experienced football manager and we are not !!!, so lets keep the negativity to a minimum, and while grayson could not get his targets ahem, Warnock has more pull than Larry, so lets ride it out and see where we are at the start of the new campaign. M.O.T
Warnock wants AT LEAST six or seven players in - http://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-unite...tch?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed "When asked if he wanted to bring in six or seven other new players, Warnock added: "At least that. There will be a large influx of players, depending on the lads I transfer-listed as well, if some of them go, which I'm sure they will, there will be interest in a number of those lads, then that will free wages and transfer fees up to put towards the kitty."
We had this attitude at the beginning of NW's reign. But NW has done worse than both Grayson and Redfearn. I think it is a worrying aspect of being a "fan" - others keep telling me not to worry as we stare down the barrel of a gun, because where I see a bleak future, too many others are putting complete faith into the idea that a team can be transformed into the best in the league within one summer, on the cheap, all because we have a new manager who has a good rep. To me, a better manager is one that gets more out of the current crop than the manager who was sacked. But that did not happen, so forgive me if I am sceptical that the strategy is about to work. I don't buy it Strach, and i don't think I can just "trust Colin" or just "ride it out"
The club never seems to be in a strong position for negotiation. Either players are running contracts down, aided by the poor track record of Shaun Harvey in terms of renegotiating contracts, or we are having a fire sale to raise cash with a short-term outlook. I'm sure other clubs will be licking their lips at the prospect of picking up players cheaply because they see Warnock needs any cash he can lay his hands on, especially if signings don't come in before pre-season. Obviously we don't want to go back to the dark days of over-stretching the budget but making it known that budgets are tightly constrained just ends up costing the club. Nobody is going to do us any favours by taking the transfer-listed players off our hands so that we can improve the squad. I suppose it works the other way too. If a selling club knows that the buying club has pots of cash, the price goes up.
The crop he was left with were not that good though were they !!, and I'm afraid you are going to have to ride it out pal, you don't have to trust him but there is not a lot you or I can do about it, so lets just hope we kick off tomorrow with a good signing, and follow it up with a few more, lets judge him ten games in.
On the contrary Strach, I can spend my time bitching about it on here, preferably without people telling me that I should just "trust in Colin". But the crop he was left with was the same crop as that Grayson had, and Redfearn had. Colin made decisions which led to other loanees coming in and a couple of loanees going out - different decisions could have bee ntaken. All I'm saying is I have not yet seen evidence that we have the Messiah here who will turn it round over the course of one summer and get us into promotion contenders. I don't buy that Colin is going to get us out of this - we need him here for a minium of 4 or 5 years to slowly build us out of this position in the financial straitjacket we are in. Last time we got out of the 2nd Div we spent the equivalent of what Leicester did last year. That gamble worked. But we're not going to do that this time, and we're not building a squad that has the nucleus to stay together and build. I don't buy into the hype
