When Graham Taylor took England to the World Cup there was a reporter on the plane whose sole task was to report on his sacking - before they even played. Taylor was talking about it in a programme a few years after the event and was still cut up about it. The same will happen to Hodgson.
I hope Roy Hodgson does well for England. Maybe not the most charismatic person ever, but I like his honesty - if England play badly, he will say so, not gloss over all the bad bits and just concentrate on the 'positives'.
Aswan - You are right in your assessment of Hodgson. But those qualities are poorly valued in todays society.
He is gentleman, I remember his interview after a swans game where he said the swans fully deserved the win , and was very complimentary on our style of play and ethos. And honest down to earth guy, I wish him well with England even if it is England lol
Yeah but they are the gutter ones though, they can't really try and discredit him like they did with Sven , though he didn't need help for that lol I
This is how the English Press treat their manager on Day 1 http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...e-Euwos-Roy-Hodgson-is-given-England-job.html What a disgrace.
the sun dont want hogdson to succeed. even worse they dont want england to succeed, they want a circus surrounding wags and john terry, ferdinand, ashley cole, perhaps make something up about rooneyu etc. thankfully we dont have scum like that with regards to our national teams....... imagine when coleman was appointed manager and the echo or argus dug out (or made up) some scandals about him just to sell a few papers?
For the life of me I can't think of a reason why it's a disgrace, but that is besides the point, I have more interest in Wales than the manager of a rival nation, basically I don't really care who is England manager as I am welsh not english.
