IMO Bolton looked very solid, very aggressive, and looked like they would score all the time - they missed a lot of big chances. There is little reason to expect they won't take 6 points from teams half way to the beach in their last 2! We need 6 points still. Only thing in our favour is they may have tonight in their legs this weekend.
Watford To be quite honest I don't know if that's the case.. we usually take a good crowd away from home but, with respect too QPR we don't really have too much to play for apart from the top 10 place I mentioned. I hope we give both games a real go, it's only fair on those teams who are down there. IF we did roll over v Bolton loads of Stoke fans would be livid... eg losing to Wigan last season, a game we could/should have won easily slipped away and of course Wigan survived. That LOSS also cost us 2 or 3 places and many Stoke fans were not happy. Let's all hope we can at least pay back Bolton for that hammering earlier this season. I don't travel to away games now for health reasons. But, out of interest the price per ticket on Sunday is how much for away fans? It may be that NO OFFENCE many Stoke fans will say no because we're now safe. I did hear that the ticket price is around the £45/50 mark is this correct...
People have been saying we don't deserve to survive. Balony! To go down below Bolton and the 'Pollock goal' would be intolerable. Natural justice - QPR survive.
All I can say is that Stoke will not simply roll over. I think the smaller pitch at Loftus Road will suit them as much as it does the Rs, particularly when it comes to throw-ins and other set peices. The Rs will be nervous and God forbid they ship an early goal. Rangers don't respond well to either chasing the game or combatting teams will their tails up. As for Bolton's recent performances, well there was enough there to suggest that they won't be an easy victory for the Baggies. Last night they succumbed to some clinical finishing in the second half which destroyed their confidence. After their equaliser they looked the team most likely to win the game until Bale broke away down the left and supplied VDV. That killed their spirit and they were gone after that. Let's hope that the Baggies repeat the feat, but Spurs they ain't. I'm predicting a home win for the Rs (which will all but relegate Blackburn) and a draw in the other game. This will take it to the final matches where we'll be comprehensively trounced by City (on their way to their first PL title), but Stoke will draw Bolton to see us safe. It's never easy being an Rs and this ain't gonna be comfortable.
Let´s beat Stoke first (if we can), this is, in my eyes a ´must-win´ game (stating obvious I know!) then we can worry about what we have to do against Manchester City. My ideal scenario would be; we need one point from Citeh and they need one point for the title, we are winning 1-0 until the 90 + 5 minute - old bacon face is salavating cos Manure have already won, then Tevez dives like Tom Daley when there is only Paddy Kenny 20m from him in the area and a penalty is given. Balotelli smashes the penalty wide and it hits Shaun Derry´s arse and flies into the top corner. Citeh and QPR get their respective point and old bacon face is served up a fresh dish of ´what goes around comes around!´ - What a wonderful end to a nerve janging season!!!. BTW why didn´t we play 4-4-2 against Chelsea???
Bolton looked very dangerous....for fifteen minutes. Then spurs counter attacks caught them quite easily. However WBA and stoke are not spurs class and they havent got anything to play for so they are easier to beat. In my mind bolton is still the favourite to survive because we have that impossible city match.
I reckon your right DL , 3 more points will do it i feel. Blackburn won't get 6 points and that means bolton would need 4 points cos of goal difference. Cannot see bolton getting four points, i really can't. We could be safe by sunday , fingers crossed.
Whoa! I can hear alarm bells ringing, and it's not just because I picked the wrong house to turn over. We really should be focusing on the Stoke game and giving them the respect they deserve. They have a very effective style which so far has yielded them more points than us. It is all too easy to get lost in the labyrinth of extrapolation but all speculation is futile if we don't get that result first.
I disagree. I thought Bolton looked very shakey and Spurs had opportunities way before they scored, they look like a team that can't keep clean sheets and is cut open too easily on the break, something which will suit a counter attacking side like WBA. I never felt Bolton would score from open play and the only posed a threat from set pieces and throw ins, something I feel WBA will be able to handle with comfort.
Perception can be amazing! I sat and watched that nervous as hell. For me Bolton dominated hugely, seemed they had most possession and goal chances and dominated more and more until Spurs scored their 2nd. Spurs were being pushed back and back and looked like getting beat until they scored those very good break out goals. Spurs were very good on the counter last night, I doubt that WBA and Stoke will give Bolton problems like that, though I hope Bolton are well knackered for the WBA game!
would be interesting if blackburn beat wigan on monday & that could leave 3 teams on 37points going into last game, but that would be nerve racking on us at citeh, would like wba to beat bolton then safe.
I thought Bolton looked fragile. They obviously realised it was **** or bust and after going one down they rallied really well but they were always susceptible to being caught on the break and the Spuds second broke them. That's when Coyle & Joe Jordan got their handbags out. Bolton will have been shattered by last night's twonking but Coyle will remind them its not over yet and a less capable team than Spuds might get caught out. The Baggies are a good side and I reckon at worst a draw
Everyones really putting the horse in front of the cart here. Bolton will be very dangerous in their last two games, as we will, there is no guarantee that they will loss and no guarantee that we will win. Keep everything crossed.
I CAN see Bolton getting 4 points unfortunately. We must beat Stoke and pray on the last game of the season.....
With all due respect your perception of the game may have been different to mine because you badly needed Bolton to lose. Whilst Spurs losing would have been ideal for us it didn't bother me as much as I knew we had lost the game anyway. Once Spurs got the first goal I was never in any doubt they'd win, Bolton look like a team with 0 creativity other than through set pieces and cross in's which teams like WBA and Stoke can deal with easily.
Yes I'm sure you are right about the reason for our different perceptions! Interesting that! But I do remember Bolton creating and missing a lot of chances in open play, not just from crosses! Their goal came from open play / Spurs poor defense as well.
All this is just bull****. "If they play like this ....", "If we play like that ...", "They haven't done this ..." They're good/crap at home ..." "If they play for Hodgson ..." None of this matters a toss. What matters is: Which twat of a referee is in charge of their games and ours. There have been so many bad decisions in the PL this season - not just in our games. I really think that they have spoilt the season and wouldn't put it past them to do something stupid in those final four matches.
