I watched some of the Rangers Hearts game on it the other week. How come next to no programmes on TV are in Doric? Surely, there must be about 250,000 doric speakers at least. Yet there's a whole channel for six ****s in Mallaig and a couple of islands that have about 9 tellies on them. When the word "Alba" was put on the Scotland tops it kind of annoyed me - gaelic has never, will never and never should be the language of Scotland. Even at it's peak, it was only spoken by half the country at best.
It's weird the Gaelic thing. The Scots spoke Scots, and most of us still speak it to a degree. My Glaswegian granny used to say things like "ben the loabey" and "press" and a whole manner of wonderful things when I was a nipper. My other granny was from the Blue Toon and they had their own dialect up there too. Seem the Gaelic mafia have taken over Tell Leggat - Lawell will have something to do with this.
It's a ****ing stupid language. I had to learn it for 5 years in Primary school, waste of every ****s time, they should have taught us a useful dead language like Latin. Even taught us Mandarin or Spanish would have been more ****ing use.
Latin is useful if you go on to do sciences. Gaelic is dying out the same as thousands of other languages before it. Every child should learn mandarin as we'll all be made to speak it in 20 years.
Gaelic's for the tourists. Fine for road signs and **** like that. Gives American tourists a sense of 'home' because they're great-great-granny came from Forfar or somewhere equally ****e and depressing.
My old flatmate from Uni is a cameraman for BBC Alba. I spotted him wandering about RockNess last year with one. His family are from Barra; The Hills Have Eyes....and teeth and extra fingers....
They're on at 19:10 apparently. Fly them all the way from Thailand and the stadium will be almost entirely empty I'm not going tonight - I've decided to play five-a-sides instead (cue "your no a real fan" jibes) so I'm only going to one more game this season - I've a feeling that there won't be a big crowd tonight - isn't this the third home game against St Johnstone? I'm sure I've been to two already (and we lost the first one).
It is the third one ,I always arrive bang on kick off time , tonight my daughter wants to see the Thai tims , 19.10 for me !!!!!
Some Tim I am didn't even realise the game is on tonight. Sweet, an excuse to get drunk by myself and have a monologue on chat box again
