That's cheating Scooterman, I was gonna put that myself. However I stick to the rules, which clearly state Britpop! May as well include this though!
Top thread Lambrettaman!! As a 20 year old, I'm glad the Britpop period is back in as of late! Brilliant period for British art.
Random unrelated music question - If you were in a band, who would you rather have as drummer: Keith Moon, John Bonham or Ginger Baker? Personally I'm undecided between Moon the Loon and Bonzo. Defo not the Ginga one though.
Tough choice. The exhibitionist who didn't have a ****ing clue what he was doing, but could smash a rolling pin against TWF's head and make it sound like the sweetest thing on Earth, or the man who was well-drilled and knew exactly what he was doing when he sat down at those drums and did some truly astounding stuff (see When The Levee Breaks). Still undecided.
For me, it's just down to an exceptional natural talent, someone who didn't do it like anyone else and who created something beyond anything that had gone before. There were probably more technically competent drummers than Moonie, just as there were more technically gifted guitarists than Hendrix, but they created a sound that no-one else could equal, for that reason, for me he wins. I was lucky enough to meet Keith Moon's mum not long ago(at a Who fund-raiser for the Teenage Cancer Trust) and she seemed completely oblivious to the regard many people held him in. She obviously knew he was popular and she knew that he was very successful, but she seemed to have no comprehension of quite how highly he was regarded.
