I don't know about Bexhill, Ponders, but I tend to associate swallow with Shepherd Neame rather than anything else With regards to Guardiola, someone who can't stand the pressure and the media interest at the Camp Nou probably isn't the right person to be in front of the Sun or the Mirror and I am certain he will know that and willhave told Bernstein to go and look at Woy.
One of the reasons for not choosing Hodgson is that if England lose a game or two the press and fans will be making fun of his speech impediment. What does this tell you?
You are all being very parochial. For most fans north of Kettering, 'Arry would be regarded as having a speech impediment.
I think that after four years at Barça, Guardiole would be horrified at what he had availible to play his classy one touch football here. Also, he's making the same 'taking time-out' noises Curbs made when he left the Valley. As for Hodgeson,I never wanted him but it shows the Paucity of experienced English managers that I can't really think of one with more experience. I never expected anything from the Euros this summer, but I cheerfully expect the new man to be a Graham Taylor reincarnated, so I'll just be a Charlton fan for now. Bit surprised to see the Germans such firm favourites, as the Spanish will probably just as good at producing 1-0 wins as last time out.
Spain look more vulnerable these days. Heavy defeats to Argentina and Portugal was followed up with defeats by England () and some other team. Plus with David Villa out, and the Madrid-Barca rivalry still causing problems in the camp, I think they'll be semi's at best. But then I won't be tooooo surprised if this comment is dug up the day after the final! For the record, I too think the Germans will win it. The only question mark they have is their defence, which is a very unusual thing to say when it comes to Germany.
Some solid support here from JJ (Mark 1) - FINLAND Overview: Finland failed by just three points to qualify for Euro 2008, which would have been their first appearance at a major tournament. Attention to detail and organisation were hallmarks of his time in charge, said former striker Jonatan Johansson. "He rejuvenated my career. I was in and out of the team and under him, I mostly started," he said. "We had a very hard group with Portugal and Poland. He came and organised the team and we had a really good campaign under him. It's the closest we have been to qualifying for a tournament. "He knows football, how to win games and pick up points. We had a limited squad, but he did a fantastic job. "He's quite thorough, a very hands-on manager. Everybody has to defend as a team, even the strikers. I think we were the team with the fewest goals conceded in the qualifiers. With a team like England, I'm sure he's going to make them very hard to beat." Johansson, who was capped 105 times and played for British clubs including Rangers and Charlton, said Hodgson was meticulous in his preparation. "He was very good at analysing the opposition and knowing how to play against them. That will be a massive strength, particularly now as there is not much time to the Euros," said Johansson, who will manage the reserve side at Scottish club Greenock Morton next season. "There was a lot of video analysis and going through strengths and weaknesses. He's very good at picking the right players in the right positions and making it work. "He's strong and disciplined. He was very fair to everybody and has a good presence about him - someone you naturally respect. He's pretty calm, composed, intelligent and well spoken but I have seen him shout and get angry. He can be quite fiery." "When I went on the pitch I knew what he wanted me to do and that always gives players confidence."
Too late, I see the sun has jumped straight onto that (I assume simply cos he wasn't who they wanted ) ...words can't describe how much I hate that tabloid! I for one am sick and tired of the crap that follows the England job, nobody is going to be perfect so I'll give Roy a chance, unfortunately I doubt the media will!
If they'd chosen Onest Arry the press honeymoon would only have lasted until he lost a couple of games.
Agreed haysey, The Scum's coverage today is little short of disgraceful. I wonder how many of their journalists speaks five languages fluently and three or four more well enough to get by? Rhetorical question, really.
How many children with speech impediments will be put off playing football because they believe they will be derided by all and sundry? The Sun fell out of the devil's bumhole.
Its owner is not a fit and proper person, that's why. As Private Eye said when he took over: "GO HOME DIRTY DIGGER"
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/fa-slams-sun-newspaper-over-hodgson-jibes-165953634.html "The FA said it would not be making an official complaint to the PCC." Well, there's a surprise...
The editor thought it would be a funny and clever thing to print . . . . . . turned out to be neither!
Never want redknapp, just don't like him! And think the fa fear his skeletons in the cupboard. I love how the media are saying redknap was everyones choice and the public choice. The only reason he was made popular was the moment he walked out of the court the media all backed him as the next manager. The media hate being wrong hence the low level stupid headlines coming out. The truth is if he does crap then everyone will say told you so. But let's be honest if redknap came in and did crap who would they blame? Just think people need to get behind whoever the manager is.
I see the nice people at the Sun have got it wrong AGAIN! Instead of saying sorry they print an pathetic article from that upstanding chap Jonathan Ross saying it was only a joke What a bunch of losers!
Mr Ross is hardly the person I would hold up as the one best qualified to identify what is a joke or not. I seem to recall he has previous in this area alongside a certain Mr Brand
