From Lenadoon Mick. Pat Finucane got him off with blasting a couple of Brits. Pats son John was in my class and he swaned over him.
What's lazy is not addressing any of my points, probably because as uncomfortable as the comments are to someone who has faith they can't really be argued against. I understand you are a person who is inclined to defend your own people, but because you belong to a certain group doesn't mean every single thing associated with that group should be defended.
are you insane? official chhurch advice is not to be promiscuous, this is causing the spread of aids stop ****ing around and the condom issue becomes void Its like gay marriage. How can an institution that forbids homosexuality even consider this?
I agree with that but your premise is false I am not catholic, as you know, but your startig argument is ludicrous
And in the real world we can practically deal with a situation which exists rather than telling free consenting adults to stop having sex with each other.
This was your point Mick Tens of thousands of people are not infected with AIDS because of official Church advice. Nobody caught AIDS ever because of Church advice. Tens of thousands of people would not be infected with AIDS if they listened to church advice. This is an indisputable fact. I gave you a curt response because you have never shown any willingness to engage on it before and indeed were all too willing to accept Tobys projection of exactly what my position is. Only in my last post have I offered my personal opinion on the issue. I have never offered it before. All I have ever done is to put forward the position of the Church from the perspective of trying to stop the spread of AIDS. People have been all too happy to castigate me personally for it as though I am some kind of zealot. If people actually listened to the message instead of lazily dismissing it then it would be impossible to dismiss the inherent truth that the Catholic method of preventing the spread of AIDS is inarguably more effective than any other.
And the real world is sub saharan Africa where AIDS is rife. I am asking you if you would 'chance it' if you lived there?` Who told people to stop having sex?
Tell the story again about how your "mate" told you that Africans don't know how to use condoms. That always cracks me up.
I'm gathering that your opinion is the same as Fan's, in that people should only ever have sex with one person - and that would prevent aids. I've made my point, that there is a fantasy world of love and chastity - and there is the real world where, like every other animal, we really enjoy having sex with each other. There are very practical ways to have sex safely and the Church forbids it, this is not moral in any sense of the word. For the sake of giving up a piece of religious tradition we could prevent hundreds of thousands of people from ruining their lives, with a very simple piece of advice. The biggest single obstacle to educating these people is church doctrine.
you need to pick what you are arguing here mick Are we talking catholic church v condoms v aids. or general As it stands the churches route = no aids. via sex anyway In fact its your consenting adults who are causing the epidemic making your point moot Fact is if they are ignoring the churshes advice on promiscuity etc why the **** worry about the condom? In terms of sin, its the ****ing left right and centre thats major
If everyone had been wearing condoms for the past decade I'd certainly chance it there, with a condom on
I am arguing that there is nothing wrong with having as much sex as you want as long as you and your partner protect yourselves. I have no doubt that people are dying right now because of the Catholic church's stance on this - they are not just quietly promoting one method of preventing aids, they are actively discouraging the single most effective way.
And what about your opinions on the church's position in regards to child abuse, Sean Brady's to be precise.
sorry but you missed the point completely as a muslim i can have upto 4 wives, so not the single person argument All I am saying is that the people getting aids are doing so not simply from javing sex, more due to promiscuity etc. The churches stance on sex outside of marriage is clear and also is clearly not bothering people, so why is the wearing or not of condoms even an issue? its pure hypocrisy on the part of tje individual For someone to say 'because the church forbids it' with regards to condoms thje response should be 'it says stop ****ing everyting that moves too ya prick'
