That's not what you said though. My RE teacher was a half caste English hippy filling in for a woman I can't remember her name. Short blonde hair, young enough. All through St Macs I never heard tell that condoms were wrong. Not once. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Catholic and no more believe in God than green aliens.
I had Mark Lenaghan lecture us every other day on the sanctity of human life, and not only were condoms frowned upon but we were even told that the pull out method probably wouldn't work - so the only solution in the eyes of the Church was to have no sex.
The only priest that tought me was Fr McMulllan (Da Rat) and he was brilliant. We had the Hobbit and what not and he was always jumping about making it very animated. Brilliant too because if you were 5 minutes late for class he sent you to the lower 6th study. We had him last two on a Friday in fith year so I was late on purpose many times and just strolled out the front door
