Came across this today, rather interesting:

    http://www.dna.fr/sports/2012/05/02/schneiderlin-au-sommet

I will translate for the benefit of everyone being able to read it! (Using a translator, I am not fluent in French either!)

Four years after it was signed by FC Southampton, Morgan Schneiderlin, the Alsatian Zellwiller, discover the Premier League in a few weeks to 22 years, thanks to the success of "Saints" against Coventry last Saturday (4-0).

He had left the Racing in June 2008. At the time, the kid of 18 years, professionally for eighteen months, had chosen to run in England.

Yet he had dabbled a little League 2 (three games) and Ligue 1 (two games) the previous two seasons as his talent was latent. But he chose exile.

"I held on to take my choice and prove that I was right"

"I had been much criticized. We did not understand my choice, says the Alsatian today without leaving a break in his hand in his voice. I could go to other more upscale clubs, but I chose Southampton then Championship (L2). I wanted playing time This is what mattered. The first months were difficult. I was alone, I could hardly speak English. I had to get along, far from home. It was not clear. But I hung on to take my choice and prove that I was not mistaken. "

And above all, the "Saints", as one speaks of Southampton in Britain, had been administratively demoted to League One, battered finances due to the construction of a new stadium outgrown after leaving the club in the Premiership in 2005. "We had a new owner (Markus Liebherr, a Swiss businessman) and then everything changed. He has the means of its ambitions and he knows what he wants, "continues Morgan Schneiderlin.

The club, which were trained players mythical as Alan Ball, Kevin Keegan, Peter Shilton, Alan Shearer and Peter Crouch will gradually recover, and the stadium, St Mary's Stadium, fill with noise and color. "We started with ten penalty points and just missed the rise in the Premiership. "

It will be realized in June 2010. With, in its ranks, this Alsatian born November 8, 1989 whose name is "unpronounceable for the fans" and they quickly renamed "Spiderman", as it is everywhere on land, tireless and valuable.

The kid grows Zellwiller, was a must for manager Alan Pardew first, but especially for Nigel Adkins, who arrived two summers ago now. "The coach gives me total confidence. He loves the beautiful game, we did go back to one-touch football from our twenty meters. "

    "I really enjoy it"

In this system (a 4-4-2 families), it is basic human, a combination of a 6 and a 10. "I'm glued to my defense, and I am the first raiser, one that should guide the game Frankly, I take my foot here. I feast at each meeting, "says one who has played 42 ... of 46 league games this season, only hampered by a bad knee injury.

And then, last Saturday, there was the last act, the 46 th and last day with 32,363 spectators, rather parishioners who rushed to St. Mary's Stadium commune with their players. If successful against Coventry, already relegated to League One, it was insurance to review the two stars of Manchester, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Ninety minutes later, only twenty people have seen Hell, the other (almost 33 000, so) have glimpsed paradise, as the Premier League Southampton FC had not rubbed since 2005.

"The party, parties, rather, were huge smiles Morgan Schneiderlin. I'm almost more tired now than after the matches. We were welcomed everywhere, including the City, we were feted by everyone. It's amazing and magical to me. "

Four years after arriving in Southampton, Morgan Schneiderlin is a happy young man, also bilingual, football excellence on behalf now sung by the fans. "The chairman told us that we will not play next season maintenance. It will allow us to invest in the Top 10. It is believed his word. "

A detour to Las Vegas to celebrate the rise...

Meanwhile, all will go on a journey toward ... Las Vegas, to continue the celebrations. "The chairman has promised to give us the credit card available for a few days," laughs Morgan Schneiderlin.

But he has already played ... and won. Not on the green carpet of a casino, but on an English lawn-green bright, long a little over 100 meters. And a ball after his feet to roll his eyes in pleasure.

Hope you enjoyed that, I did! :D

    Very interesting.

I just hope that the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov doesn't get to read it.

We are off to France next week for a holiday and she will want to take in a detour to Alsace to visit Morgan's home town of Zellwiller.

The trouble is we are going to Brittany and it will be a little out of our way!

Basically he is aiming for top ten, not just to stay up (ie. maintain position?).

My version...We will not be playing just to stay in the PL, but will invest and go for top 10.

Put bluntly, we are not going in there to make up the numbers so that the top teams have enough clubs to play to win the title. And it will only be a stepping stone to bigger things. It's a good starting point. Second season top 6, Third season, top 4.

I maybe wishing my life away, but I can't wait for Saints to rattle a few Premiership cages. This is going to be so much fun.

Agree. Also can't wait to see Morgan stepping up to the full international team, which will surely follow once he starts playing in the Prem. Les bleus ne sait pas encore ce qu'ils manquent !

How can Morgan be only 22...does he live in a blackhole? Seems like he's been here forever.

Translations are always interesting, but he seems happy here and speaks very highly of the fans in the land of Queen (presumably Elizabeth and not the rock group). Says he is not the king, but is liked and the fans (unlike in Italy) respect his privacy. Says he'd like to play back in Brazil one day but is looking forward to playing in PL.
