Haha. I enjoyed reading your list of nominations, although I was surprised to see you hadn't found an award for kevin Bond.........
we are still waiting for you to have a word with our striker scouts and midfield scouts Spurcat...any info on who we are looking at because alot of names are being thrown around by the fans in anticipation.
I am sure you will understand that I can't say anything on here Dona, although having said that, I don't really know any more than you on striker options and midfiled options. I do know who we have been keeping tabs on, but that doesn't follow we'll be making bids for them. I am only involved on the goalkeeping side and all I can say on that is, that recommendations have been made to Harry in respect of certain young goalkeepers, but it does seem that our Harry doesn't "do" young keepers, seemingly preferring the likes of veteran keepers to up and coming young ones.
cheers for that Spurcat..informative as ever...if that is his criteria then..what do you say about Al Habsi of Wigan?
Hi Spurcat I must say there is some good goalkeeping talent in the premiership this year isn't there. Krul, Vorm, Ruddy have all impressed to name just three. On the subject of goalkeepers what a great reception we gave Robbo last Sunday as I knew we would. I wondered whether he would throw his gloves into the crowd again like he has before and i wasn't disappointed. Seems a really good guy I have to say!
It might be short memory on my part but apart from the save from a top corner destined shot against Swansea, I can't think of another truly superb save of his... it was one Hell of a save. That's one thing I miss about Gomes, not that I'd ever swap them!
i cant make a list of his saves as i cant recall... however there have been many incidents where ive thought that if that was Gomes we would be in trouble.....
Scotty's been good, but I do feel as though we lose something with him in the team. With Thud in games we are on top in, he can ping passes whilst luka gets forward more with more penetrating runs, or they can both spray it about. Scotty doesn't, so it all has to come from Luka, hence why his goals and assists are so low. Compare his positions on the pitch with Silva or Mata, and you can see why they are more effective, because they have Lampard/ramires or Barry/De jong/Taure behind/alongside them. There is a time and a place for Scotty, but not in every game imo. I feel we could have utilsed Sandro and Livermore far better this year (aside from all the others that we know about such as Charlie, Niko, Gio, Townsend, Rose etc) So player of the Year has to go to either Kaboul, Ade (if he gets a couple more in the run in) or Walker for me.
Modric's goals and assists are always low. He's just **** at shooting. We all know if there was a player stood in the corner of the goal he could pass it on to their big toe but when he shoots he just loses all composure. 3 goals from his 78 shots whilst Lennon has the same amount of goals from 15 shots is a fairly damning comparison.
For me it has to go to Kaboul, he has established himself as our number 1 CB this season and without him in the team we are quite frankly all over the place defensively. I also think Parker has had a great season but as was mentioned before, he does somewhat take something away from us as an attacking force. Walker has been fantastic this season also but still question marks over his defensive positioning at times, but i am sure this will come as he is still learning his trade. Bale and Modric have not hit the heights of previous seasons (imo Bale was the worst player on the pitch on Sunday) and none of the strikers have scored enough.
On our side, I'd probably agree. If you're including Blackburn's attendees (I hesitate to say players), then perhaps not!
Perhaps it is all part of harrys master plan. Qualify for Champs league with Bale and Modders on poor form, so that no one wants to nick them from us! he's a sly one is ol' 'arry.
Real toss up between Kaboul and Parker. Parker has added that bite and tenacity into our midfield and has literally threw his body in places where players would generally sh*t their pants at doing. Kaboul has become our number 1 centre back, a beast in the air and has been so consistent. Think I'll go for Kaboul, simply because "Kaboul! Kaboul! Kaboul is on fire!" YPOTY is without a doubt Walker. Breakthrough - Walker or Carroll for his Europa displays. Funniest looking - Sandro for his f*cked up blue and white mohawk hairstyle and gum shield. Coolest mo'f*cka - Benny. Best loanee of the season -Steven Caulker. The player I wish Spurs had signed award - Papiss Cisse. Crock of the year - Tommy Hudd (f*ck, it ain't Ledley!!!). Best individual performance in a game award - Adebayor vs Newcastle. Signing of the season - Parker.
