It was a good performance against Liverpool, liked how the young players came in a played their roles well. Hangeland was back to his best, after a poor display on Saturday. Today most of the media have stated the obvious, that Liverpool were below par, as usual Dalglish failed to praise Fulham's performance, unlike David Moyse who's team beat us 4-0, but still said Fulham have good players, are a good team and they needed to play well to get that result. Well done to Billy McKinlay who was in charge of both games on the touch line for getting a response from the players.
Daglish is always the same. Always looks like he's chewing on a wasp in his interviews. Miserable man.
I'm not sure why but I seem to love watching Kenny have an awful time of it. A lot of my friends are Liverpool fans and they are starting to lose patience with 'King' Kenny. They only refer to him as Kenny now. In today's climate, if it was any other manager he would be very close to the exit door if not through it already.
I think you're probably right, fulhamireland, and yet he's a few days away from possibly delivering their second trophy of the season. I think everyone expected Liverpool to make a much better fist of things in the league, but even so it speaks volumes about the gap between Liverpool's expectations and their realistic place in English football at the moment. They are part of the pack with their noses pressed up against the glass, looking in on the Promised Land of the Champions League, no more and no less.
The thing is though, he isn't. I used to work with his sister and met him once. He was really funny and smiley and not at all like he appears on TV which can only be described as the architypal dour Scotsman. He really does himself an injustice with his media image. Having said that, I don't like him as a manager and think the way he undermined Sir Roy at Liverpool was disgraceful.
Very true. In fact, if results turn out right (or wrong depending on your point of view) they could end the season in the bottom half of the table. Sunderland are currently 11th and only 4 points behind. Worse case scenario for them is finishing 13th - but that is a bit unlikely.
Apologies. I meant 'always the same on TV' As I have not had the pleasure of meeting him in person. He's the manager of a horrible, racist club. The way he handled the Suarez affair was astonishingly poor, never credits other teams performances, always miserable, and as someone else mentioned, had a hand in getting Roy the boot at Anfield. What a CV.
Portsmouth and Birmingham in recent years have proven that you don't need a great team to win a domestic cup. If he does win the FA Cup along with the Carling Cup, it should not be enough to save him his job, and despite the claims of Jamie Carragher, should definitely not be enough to be called a 'successful season' They are closer to 20th than they are to 1st. You cannot spend over £100 million and finish mid-table. I honestly couldn't see any other top club settling for it.
True, the cup win(s) will just have put a gloss coat on what has been an awful season. They have played 17 games at home and have won 5 in the league. That's abysmal for a team like Liverpool. Anfield is no longer feared by the smaller teams. If I was to choose a team to fall from grace in the last few years it would have been Liverpool. I just don't like the club.
Sunderland's fall from grace has been quite alarming, in the early days of MON they were beating everyone right left and centre, people were talking of a top six finish under him, and now they could easily finish in and around the lower mid-table places. Would Bruce have done so much worse if he had been given the entire season?
Yes, I rather think he would. On the basis of his last few months in the job, he would have had the slump without the preceding bounce.
