Given that our academy has produced so much talent and so many ex Sainst are currently playing in the Premier League, if you could choose one player to return who would it be?

I'd love to see Wayne Bridge back in a Saints shirt, would fill at potential weakness at Left back and he is Saints to the core.

Bridge would cost us a fortune in zimmer frames and day care! How about Martin Cranie ... no I thought the same.

I'd love to see Bale back, but we might as well wish for Messi. I think this is going to be a very short list, mate.

I guess I was being a little more realistic, but would have to agree re Bale if money were no object.

I'm sure he is a lovely guy. But where would he play?

Bale is the only one I would want. I always thought Bridge highly overrated. He was helped to look good by Chris Marsden. Even when he was playing for England (as the only left-footed full back in the country until Cole came along) the ball was a hot potato for him. Unlike Bale who from day one wanted to take free kicks, corners etc. I agree with Channon about Surman.

I know that the thread isn't meant as a serious take on who we might be looking at because as someone said elsewhere, none of these players mean a thing to the current manager/chairman so realistically there is no way we'd be looking at any of them.

Would have been great to get a couple more seasons out of Alex Oxo-Chamberpot, one in the Championship and one in the Prem to be precise. But it was not to be. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

Personally I'm not sure about him but a bit surprised no-one has mentioned Dyer.

There are plenty out there we could probably create a whole team!

Dyer has done well for Swansea and scored me a few points for my Fantasy team.

I think Kevin Davies would be a good addition.
He is out of favour at Bolton.
    He has Premier League Experience
He would a good back up target man for Rickie
He can score goals at this level.
    He is an england international!

Good back up but can't see him coming just to sit on the bench.

Is this because of Bale's comments in a recent interview about Spurs and CL qualification? As in "We'll have to sit down and see what's best for me.." Oh bl**dy will we Gareth? So long as you get what's best for you mate.

Extremely fleeting career down here, but Danny Guthrie to shore up the midfield?
