off toure is Antonio Valencia, we should of played him from the start, he is the only player we have that has the strength to match toure and Valencia is faster then toure. At one moment when it was Valencia vs Toure, Valencia used his strength and pace to get the ball of Toure. He could of played rings around Glitchy because we know Glitchy is good at attacking but weak at defending, Valencia done more in 15 minutes then what Nani did all game. That was a stupid decision by Sir Alex to not to start him. I'm still fuming at his decision. Horrible decision
Valencia should have started definitely but not instead of Nani, instead of Park. Ferguson had this idea that Nani had the beating of clichy and blindly stuck to it, dropping the most effective player of the last few weeks and in doing so negating any attacking intent we might have. How could he possibly have thought Park was the answer? He's **** anyway but to bring him back after months out and expect him to be the answer was suicide. Totally ridiculous. After ten minutes he was ****ed and for the following 40 we may as well have had ten men, giving us no chance. Fergie set out to not lose, he made the team play with fear and it was an embarrassment. His selection last night and on new years eve have cost us this league and by the look of it we're a long way off winning the next.
Strange decision by SAF I must agree. Despite saying in the lead up to the game that he was would be attacking City, he goes and drops Wellbeck, Valencia and places Young on the bench. WTF? I understand his mindset in playing Park and how that gamble has paid off before in big matches and what he brings, but you need to attack City especially with pace on the break. Why cause thats the best way to play them since they were playing to attack. SAF IMO played into their hands. If they go and win the league and nothing yet is certain, we have blown it over the last few weeks.
I think the idea to play Nani instead of Valencia came had to do with the fact only Rooney was in the box when we pushed it out wide, even then sometimes Rooney was to deep in the box to make use of a cross. In retrospect we should have gone with a 442 dropping Giggs and Park in place of Welbeck and Nani.
We should have played 442 but with Nani on the left maybe or perhaps Young. Valencia should have been a cert though. City needed to win and to be frank imo we handed it to them. With Young and Valencia playing, our pace on the break would have kept City on their toes or gotten us a goal. I imagine if SAF was to do it all again, his team selection would be very different.
Park and Giggs should of been left out for Valencia and Welbeck. At the end of the day we lost because of 1 single error.
true apart from that one error, our defending was fantastic, Jones was fantastic, we could of conceded two more goals if it wasn't for him
he did it once all night? I thought nani although not great actually put himself about which was nice to see for a change
yeah but eh could of done more playing times, i mean the only player who got the strength against Y Toure is Valencia and Valencia also is faster then Toure, Valencia's the fastest player in manchester. To be honest i agree, apart from that one moment where nani could of pased the ball to Jones when he had soo many space btu he choose to shoot from an impossible angle and far out in the first half, apart from that he was defending alright and he wasn't selfish, he did make great clearences
sorry fellas but I personlly understood why valencia was benched once he came on For someone who has had a great season overall valencia has not been at his best against the likes of barca/city etc. Once he came on it became obvious he wouldnt have been efective in this game
I think I actually had a little respect for Nani last night, and getting some for Carrick too ths season... Need a shower after saying that.
your wrong here, he had the beating of Glitchy, when he came on attacking wise he done more then any of our player's and he also defended pretty will too, i think he was the only player to muscle out Yaya Toure to the ball and beat him to the ball with his pace.
I honestly didnt think so I do think we tried to attack more but that was mainly due to being down 1 - 0. Valencia was fresh but I didnt think his impact was as big as you think
that was because we send him on when city were using all the chance to time waste and just defend, im sure if he started, it would of been different, Glitchy is good at attacking but when it comes to defending he struggles at times and he would of struggled with dealing with Antonio Valencia , Valencia running at full-backs are nightmares for left backs and also he confuses players too, whether he will cut in and run in the bos or run straight at the left back and turn and cross the ball in, Valencia would of played rings around Glitchy
Yaya is head and shoulders the best player in the Premiership. He even looked like a god when he was at Barcelona!
