Personally I wouldnt be one bit surprised if the other english players on the chelsea team didnt think much of JT either. I dont think they would have much of an issue with Rio and rio would be fine with them.

If I was england manager, to ensure unity I wouldnt take John Terry. If I was manager of a team we face, I would target John Terry as a major weak point. Wind him up something rotten and watch him blow. Liability isnt the word with him just now.

  2. Couldn't agree more to be honest. Terry undermined the whole setup at the last tournament by doing that press conference despite being demoted as captain and not gaining permission. I wouldn't take him personally but I think Roy will, I think any manager the FA could have got would have taken Terry (unless they appointed Rio or Anton of course).

The guy is a disgrace to the whole game. He really thinks hes above the law, not just of the game but the actual law.

You are right in that any manager will have to take him due to FA pressure. LIke the FA terry is a cold heartless scumbag who has no interest in his teams success but is all about personal glory.

On my wave length here. I think any players 31 and over should be left out. Time to start looking to 2014 and by the time that comes around those players will be 33+ and in decline. And frankly they've had their chance and not done anything. Time for a fresh start, lose the really big names and build for the future

Roy hasn't got the balls to drop him from the national team

you still under estimate Roy's credentials compared to Harry's...i actually think he will do a better job than Harry...at least now we have a chance of getting rid of the golden generation rubbish......with Harry they would be in until we are dead!

Its very much likely that Roy will do far better than Harry will do.

Club management and international management are worlds apart.

  10. Although I agree with this thinking, the 'build for the future' approach eliminates any youngsters coming through the ranks in the mean time. Because your looking to build that squad unity, bringing new players in will mean re-starting to an extent.

Plus, IMO, a few of the older players should be around. No mater how poor England have been over the years, the youngsters can learn things from the older players still.

  11. Couldn't agree more.

I've always said it is not best practice to appoint a manager for England from one of the top domestic teams. These teams tend to have money and / or top players. International management is about working with what you have. You have to select a system and tactics to suit the players rather than pick a system and buy the players to suit. Completely different ball game IMO.

I like the approach Wales have done in recent years - Hughes, Speed and now Saunders. None were established when appointed and there were more experienced managers available, but they gave the young managers a chance because it is about playing the game rather than chopping and changing the structure of the team.
