Lot's of stuff going on in our neck of the woods but let's take some time out to discuss Roy Hodgson being given the job of managing England.

Being one of the lucky ones who were at Wembley in 1966 to see us win the World Cup leaves me grieving at what has happened during the intervening years to the men wearing the England shirt. Yes I know the game has moved on but is it for the better - I think not. If you look at the way our national team has come unglued I think it points at the way the game has changed and the manner in which the players have become jaded and greedy in their aspirations. Wearing the national shirt with pride has become obsolete and been replaced with personal self gratitude and obsessive media hype. Their days are not up to par unless they are plastered all over the scum media for their previous night's exploits in some bar with a piece of tatty totty on their arm.

Just look around the Premier League to see another nail in the coffin of national identity and see how we have given the rest of the world a leg up in their own national team building by allowing uncontrolled absorption of overseas players. I will agree that we have the best league in the world so why do we sit back and let this happen when, just in case you haven't noticed, the top national teams in the world have rejected the multi-overseas players route. Surely their success, and our consistent failure at international level, should give our league management system a clue as to why any new manager has little hope of turning our bunch in to a winning combination.

The in-fighting within our national team is a disgrace and IMO some of them should never be allowed to wear the England shirt again unless they prove their unequivocable commitment to national pride rather than the almighty pound. When I look around at the salaries and bonuses that most of these so called national heros earn it makes me sick to know that they couldn't give a damn about the hordes of England supporters that would go to the ends of the earth to see them actually put in a bunch of good shifts and actually compete on the real stage of international football.

Roy Hodgson, like all his predecessors, has a major task on his hands to bring this sad lot together but I wish him every success in the upcoming Euros. Bring back the commitment of 1966.

To answer the question...no. Our expectations, fuelled by the media, are always too high.
'Arry is the media's darling, so unless Hodgson's England plays expansive flowing football,
wins match after match and reaches the finals of competitions; he'll be hung out
    to dry.
    P.S. I think he's a good appointment!

If i was a manger and i was offered the england job.....theres no way i could turn it down, granted its more likely to brake you than make you, but the chance to manage england would be too good a offer to turn down, its one of footballs biggest jobs, and i will give Woy support although he was not my favorite for the job

p.s a 4 year contract was a big mistake, should of gave him 2

When he managed Switzerland at one point they were third in the fifa world rankings. That's some achievement!

Have no problem with the choice, just the players commitment to him or indeed anyone else for that matter.

The media will destroy him within one year. He was getting questions about the time he spent in apartheid South Africa playing pro football in 1974 at his press conference this morning..

Cant remember that being relevant when he was Liverpool manager?

Even though we had a bad world cup, Capello did get us to play a bit of football......I just hope to god we don't go backwards, to the kick and hope days of McClaren & Taylor.
Good luck Roy, you're gonna need it with the shower we have.
Made me laugh the other day when listening to talk sport, Adrian Durham saying Rooney would get in the Barcelona side...........yeah right, wouldn't even make the bench
    !!

My main issue is we always pick the highest paid players and not the players who are in form or play best as a team.

We all know gerrard and lampard cant play in the same team but the managers keep trying and keep failing.

He was once a great defender but why keep calling Rio up when his form hasnt been great and is injured half the season.

The results dont lie that we play better as a team when we play players like bent up front and not rooney. Great record for man utd but pants for England.

Guess problem woy has is bent is injured. Rooney is suspended and now wellbeck is injured and has his foot in a protected brace. Striking options are becoming slim. Hopefully Crouch may be given a chance as u cant argue against his england record but guess woy will play players like zamora

Biggest mistake over the last 10 years is that if gerrard was our best player why did we not build a team round him that would win rather play lampard in the middle and gerrard on the left

Pardew for me, but Woy will do. Better than dodgy (or is that doggy?!) 'Arry.

With 'Arry you get someone who makes average players feel like world beaters, but could he do that not working with them every day.
Hodgson is more tactically astute and will make us hard to beat.
I think the FA have got this right.
The media are not happy, but this is the same media who all thought Capello would do a good job.
Let's all get behind the new manager and give him a chance

    Rooney instead of Sánchez ?

    Not that implausible.
