He hasnt just said he doesn't want to go back to Germany he has also said he want regular football. Now out of the 3 teams that have been named in the Premier League (Man U, Arsenal and Newcastle) although Siggy is good he is not going to get into the attacking midfield ahead of Rooney, Arteta and Ben Arfa, in those respective clubs yet IMO as neither club will put him ahead of those players based on half a season. I can imagine £5-6 million with a hefty share of sell on profit (40%??) would clinch it as a whole season playing as well as he has will easily manufacture a move of £10 million(+?) and they would get a nice little brucie bonus on top of the initial transfer. The alternative for them is they force him to stay, an unhappy player never plays well and we pick him up for a snip of the price that is being battered around now as he would only have one year left However there is always the likely chance of a club taking a punt and paying £10million + now, but with the financial fair play rules would they make such a dent for a player used in rotation (basising this wholey on the three aforementioned teams). I just dont see a club spending big on him. Arsenal already have a lot of attacking talent so i can imagine a bulk of their transfer kitty is going to go on defence and defensive cover. Newcastle wont spend that sort of money I don't think considering the value and policy they have taken with their last signings who were first teamers (Cabaye 4mil, Cisse 9mil) and the only way Man U board & fans are going to be happy if they end up losing the league is buy forking out on a marque signing (Sneijder/Hazard) I think we have a great chance of signing him but to answer an earlier post if a decision had to be made on Siggy or Caulker I would fork out on Caulker every time!!
how do you know he wont play first team football for other teams??? who would pay £10 million for a player if they are not going to play him......not everyone is like man city or chelsea...
I just used the three teams mentioned going on the formations they play, that being the case the only team I could see him getting in is possibly Arsenal...as Ben Arfa has had just as good a season, if not better, at Newcastle and there is no way that he will get into the Man U side ahead of Rooney...you'd be silly to suggest otherwise. Now im not ruling out that they wouldn't shuffle the sides possibly to accommodate him, I was just going on who is playing in the position at those respective clubs at this minute. Hence the reason I said that I dont think they will go in for him, especially is they are not going to start him for that very reason...who would pay £10 mill for a squad player
£10 million is way over the top for him so i hope we dont go down that road and pay that much.....£5 million then ok.. but why i think he wont be with us is because of what he said...."I would love to play for swansea but its out of my hands.....there are plenty of siggs out there especially on the continent where they play our brand of football and all we need to do is send some scouts out there to find them.....and they would be cheaper....
absolutely not and the reason is we wont be strong enough with the team we have now to win many games next season. we need a minimum of 4 players to make us stronger , two tall defenders, a midfielder with a bit of meat on them as bigger sides were mussling joe and leon of the ball, and we need a natural lone striker that can take defenders on....no way would we survive with the same team in the second season. we dont have that unknown factor anymore, look how norwich and qpr took us apart and that is because they knew how we play and nullified us and beat us with ease, we have to bring players in to strengthen for next season or we will struggle badly....
We've been strong enough this season. We have players that can do the job and I'd blo the whole budget on Siggs and Caulker if I could,no doubt.
Innit. Our strength is our system. Keep the same players together, they will therefore know the system better and the team should improve.
I would use it to keep them if i could. We do need another defender but 4 average players Will not garentee anything ,when you consider the job orlandi and gower have done i Think we Are resonable squad wise. A few Loan signings can pad us out IMO
Would depend on what the budget was , if we had to make our budget match what was needed to land them ... no .
Definitley Gylfi and 2 more CB's is where I would spend my money. Having said that havent watched much of the reserves so not sure how Obeng and and Situ are shaping up. Still not seen how good Donnelly is either. Lots of potential coming through. As for the likes of Britton being muscled off the ball by bigger sides not seen it myself. Out of our whole midfield Leon has been the stand out defensive player of the season for me. Too steal a phrase from a mate of mine " Britton is the Janitor" always there to clean up the mess for everyone!
we would never be as good as we were next season that any one who knows about football will tell you. listen to talk sport sometimes and you will hear them say that very point. Why did norwich beat us so seasy (twice)? why did QPR hammer us.? try to work it out.......It was because we played them in the championship and they knew exactly what to expect and they delt with us very easily. you dont think that the rest wont be ready next season. too bloody right they will be and thats why we have to get stronger by adding more quality to the side. we are lacking all over the place with good quality players that we will need to make any sort of impression next season.....
Bollocks. You said we'd need to sign loads of players to stay up. We stayed up. Now you're saying we're "lacking all over the place" with good quality players? Like where? I can't even be bothered to debate this with you, you're so wrong. Talksport says it so it must be true? How old are you?!
Dai, your starting to piss me off with this whole "ask anyone who knows anything about football" bollocks. You may be older than some of us, doesn't give you the automatic right to say we know nothing.
