It has ridiculously good reviews, I've not seen as good reviews since the social network movie.

Around 95% of people say it's awesome.

Has anyone here seen it? If not are you going to see it?

It is ridiculously good, but it does pretty much assume you've seen the other 5 marvel movies.

well, it's a big silly superhero movie - so it should be reviewed as such

as far as big silly superhero films go, it's decent. fun characters, one-liners, comic moments, etc.

the film is essentially a big build up to an "epic" showdown

sadly, the "epic" showdown is the weakest bit of the film, and (Hulk moment's aside) actually gets very tedious and dull, very quickly. it's basically ridiculous CGI overload.

but that aside, worth seeing - it's entertaining for sure.

just whatever you do - see it in 2D not 3D

the 3D is post-production and looks utter, utter ****, it stands out too much, constantly distracting from the film itself - especially the action scenes, which are just a confusing mess. Seriously, it's even worse 3D than the Green Hornet (and that was awful)

edit: you definitely will have had to see Iron Man, Capt. America, and Thor.
Iron Man 2 & The Hulk not necessarily required viewing, though they might help.

also, Ruffalo as the Hulk in AA is better than Bana was in The Hulk movie itself.

Avatar aside, the only films I've seen that benefited from 3D were animated movies.

it just doesn't really work for proper films - especially action movies: fast movement & fighting (confusing with 3d) & long shots (scale is always confused - they always look like tilt-shifts, like minatures)

For a first time poster with only one previous comment, you seem to know a lot about what should be and what shouldn't be.

In my experience they don't do many film reviews on general chat......................

Pay a visit sometime you'll understand. Plus there is a bit of history between this board and general chat after Gary Speeds death. It still simmers along underneath. Some of us frequent both, some would rather poke needles in their eyes than visit!

Each to their own basically and you can fathom it out for yourself.

EDIT: On the actual subject I can't wait to see it but I'm gonna have to watch Thor first.

Hey it's the big hairy guy ;) JK brah. Thanks for your feedback. Imma see it soon enough.

Can I enjoy it if I haven't seen Thor and Captain America though? I've seen loads of comic book films like the Hulk, Spiderman, Iron man ect, just not them two.

I've seen Cpt. America and Thor. They aren't as bad as people make out. Haven't seen the Iron Men films yet, so will try to catch them before I see the Avengers.
