It might actually be good for England in the long run, as it may hasten the departure of some of the old mob from the international scene. Hodgson's tactics tend to be rather negative though and I'm not sure that suits the current crop of players.
The negative tactics might be him cutting his cloth according to available resources, it all gives a renewed interest in watching England play in tournaments. He did very well with Fulham in the uefa and I'd put England on a par with Fulham in international terms.
So we and the FA had it arse about face,it wasn't HR it was RH.Really Hard on HR,HR played RH when he played football
I agree, England are more like Liverpool. An overhyped squad of players who don't fit well together leading to constant changing of tactics and expecting success because of trophies won decades ago. Doesn't bode well for Hodgson, does it?
Actually England have only ever won ONE trophy. Not too good for the inventors of the game. So weed need to look further down the leagues to find the equivalent club side. What club side has won only one trophy?
Stoke it is PNP and if we keep that in mind we wont be so disappointed when we watch the England games. Rory Delap for England!
I see them more as an Aston Villa - your glory days were a long time ago, yet the longer they spend in the doldrums the more their fans bang on about them.
dunno if I'm late here, but SSN is confirming a 4 year deal for Woy and an unveiling as we speak. (please ignore if I have repeated something which is actually on a sky sports news loop, and as a result you all knew this hours ago)
It was well known that it was happening at 4, Roo. I don't think contract length was confirmed or even rumoured though, to be honest. 4 years? Seems like an unnecessary risk, to me.
i didn't even have a clue it was 4pm. but yep, 4 years and he leaves west brom after the arsenal game. lets hope they have a good send off for him by getting a win!
I think they're offsetting the cost of sacking him with the fact they got him for free and is probably on a fairly modest wage compared to Capello. It'd be interesting to know how bad we would have to do at the Euros for him to get sacked. I suspect the media will quickly turn on him if any cracks are shown but the FA will stand by him unless we lose all 3 really badly!
well that's the beauty of it YV, we can't be any worse this year than we were in the world cup. it was totally abysmal. not only were our results bad, but so was the football. Woy will have a job to do much worse!
