Love what he had to say about Moussa, Mark, Clint and just about everyone else! What a captain.

Deflects praise to others ... first to accept responsibility for defeats. True leader.

That was a pleasure to read, it just further enforced my desire for him to stay on at the club long after his playing career.

I was struck by that during the Europa run. After one match (QF? Semi? I can't remember) he was asked if it was the greatest achievement yet, and he said he thought it fell short of what the team did in coming back against Juventus - a game he had missed with suspension. He's a class act.

As a fan of Danny Murphy (amongst many, obviously) I really enjoyed the article. He does make us tick, always available, so takes pressure off Brede to bring the ball and to DemPele to carry it. Hope for at least one more season of him at The Cottage.

I had a ten minute conversation with a colleague at work last week, which centred around whether Murphy should have played more for England. At the end of the ten minutes, I had the other guy convinced that Murphy should have been playing instead of Gerrard for the last ten years (I genuinely think England would have been better with Murphy) and Liverpool let the wrong guy go.

    Danny Murphy, club legend.

Every time I read or hear Murphy speak on radio, he comes across as someone who
has good knowledge and will do really well in management.
He speaks his mind and has rubbed up fans of Stoke and Wolves with his options
    of how they play.

When Jol first came in there were rumours that Danny would have problems, as when
Jol was at Spurs, Danny wasn't played that much, and I think Jol sold him to us or
    was it Cammolie?
But it worked well for us. And now it sounds as if they work well.

Like many I can see Danny being a good manager, and hopefully will be Fulham's manager one day.
But the downside would be if he does well for us, you can bet Liverpool would be banging on
his door, and the pull would be too great.

I've seen him working part time as a presenter or commentator for Sky, but I'd really like to see him take over management of Wolves.

It had occured to me, DR, that he would be a perfect fit for what Wolves need. Something tells me, though, that their fans wouldn't be too keen on him, and that the board won't be asking him to come for an interview.

Your right, Capt. He'd probably make a good manager at Wolves, but my suggestion was more joke than serious. I doubt he'd get in and out of Wolverhampton without being tarred and feathered.

They'd have to catch him first - all he'd have to do is sit on DemPele's shoulders and let Moussa weave the pair of them out of trouble. They wouldn't get near him!

I think Murphy has set his sights on picking up where Jol will leave off, I think Jol will also have this in mind. You watch Murphy commentating and he does seem to have a good eye for the game in terms of tactics, so I can definitely see a career in management for him. I just hope it is with us. He should also get McGod's number and get him in to be our attacking coach.

On a side note, did anyone else get incredibly frustrated with Frei last night, every defender now knows that he has no left foot and will always try and cut in, Jol will need to do something about that in the summer as come next year there won't be a full back who doesn't know what he's up to.

He is exciting to watch but for me often he runs into trouble without the know how of how to get out of it, much like Dembele was last year. Don't get me wrong he's incredible I just think he's a little limited in his attacking approach.

I think Frei cuts in-field too much. He is right footed and doesn't seem to have much confidence in his left. Defenders will become aware of this and it will make it easier to predict what he is going to do. I think he needs to work on his left leg and his ability to beat the man down the line as well as on the inside, a bit like Duff can. When he is running at a defender he has the ability to cut in onto his left or go down the line and cross with his right. It makes it a lot harder to defend against.

You asked about last night, Bandit. To justify my reply to you, this is a bit of what I said to froggy27 in the other thread when he asked how Frei played -

"Straight swop for Kaca on the left, froggy. He had a terrific game, not just taking them on up front but did a tremendous amount of tracking back and covering defensively. He has improved that side of his game so much recently and, certainly tonight, seemed stronger. .... His best though, was a jink inside and a cracking shot which hit the outside of the post."

That said, I understand what you are saying and would like to see what he can do playing on the right hand side.

I've noticed this too. I think he would be better on right, playing a similar role to Valencia, driving to the byeline and putting a ball across. Maybe when he is older he can move to that side, but at the minute it's like playing Walcott or Lennon on the left.
