    Hodgson appointed England manager
Roy Hodgson is named as the new England boss by the Football Association, with the 64-year-old agreeing a four-year deal.

Good. Not too fussed who got it really but Hodgson is a good manager. A fresh approach and fresh tactics will be interesting to watch.

Plus, at least we won't have a Spurs version 2 England team, which I've always suspected Redknapp would do.

    Not sure on him

Think he is a good manager and has the experience but will have to wait and see

I like everybody else wanted Redknapp, however I was also one who wanted Mark Hughes/David Moyes for Sunderland

Lets hope he has a similar effect to the 'O'Neill Effect' when it comes to the Euros

I notice that we haven't heard a 'dicky bird' from any of the England players who 'tweeted' in support of Harry, when Capello resigned (see what I did there!!) Does that mean Roy will get the same treatment from England players as he got from Liverpool's 'stars'?

I also think the groundswell of opinion in favour of Harry Rednapp was largely with his media friends based within the M25, and us Northeners were a lot more sceptical about how suitable he really was for the England job.

Given time, and with the right support, I believe Roy will be a good appointment.

I think he's more of a media safe bet, 'Arry comes over as a real thick turd, capable of a controversial faux pas -let's face it he's a ****ing chav!

Better to go for Woy, who's a barrel of fun and joy by all accounts <laugh>

Bet the WBA fans are really chuffed about this one, just when they were getting a settled in the Prem. No doubt this will start another managerial merry go round, we'll see.

Relatively pleased, mainly that its not Harry. Nice to see a bit of the dying art of patriotism in there too Syd. <ok>

I happened to pick up the Sun at lunchtime while waiting for my lunch. Its the first time I've read it in a while. Nowt much changed in terms of its quality and I see they've taken Harry not getting the job badly and started the Woy Witch Hunt already. Stick it up them Woy.

I am very plaes Flash 'Arry did not get the job. I reckon Levy and 'Arry were asking for too much compo and salary..Well done Woy and 'Arry and Levy deserve each other I bet they fall out and he is sacked ..soon I hope. Also I bet a certain Sky pundit tries to stick it Woy every available opportunity.

The FA have appointed a "yes man" who will dance to their tune whenever required, a cheap appointment who will never excite anyone with his style of play or his personality.

I'm pretty sure his contract with WBA is due to end in a few months anyway.

Evening chaps. Not sure on this one to be honest. Eriksson, Capello and now Hodgson, all experienced managers with great footballing brains but all three sadly lack charisma, passion, inspiration and the ability to excite fans and the media.

Sadly, I think this could end up being another Taylor "The Turnip" situation, because the media and a large proportion of the fans are already critical of the FA and Woy's appointment.

For me, I preferred Saggy Chops.....

I'm quite pleased with this, I reckon he will be alright just so long as the players get behind him.
    Rather him than saggy.
