Aye but under NMG rules, it doesn't only matter if you're a Geordie, if you have played for us first you can't go on and play for the other side. Obviously you'll score an own goal or miss a gilt edged opportunity and forget all about your professionalism you see.
He was a Sunderland supporter as a teenager, up until July/August 1943. At that point he saw the light and switched allegiance, never looking back. The reason? We gave him a chance when others hadn't. A true club legend. Poached from the other side too to sweeten the mix!
