The good news is Warnock wont be signing another Bolton reject who quite frankly did not improve our side. The bad news though follows with some worrying comments regards to transfer fees. http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20120430/robbo-move-unlikely-boss_2247585_2754601
Evening Marsh, welcome to the Leeds not606 board fella Marsh, just to make you aware, on this board, the first 8-10 posts will be moderated, so will take longer to get to screen. Bear with it
“What we’ve got to use at Leeds is the advantage of the crowd. We’ve got to get pace in the side, power in the side and we’ve got to have energy" - Maybe one of the reasons Robinson won't be joining, take out White and we have no pace.
Welcome Marsh - never doubted Robbo wouldn't stay, not one for the future of Leeds. Would love to be a fly on the wall at the team meeting tomorrow when the dross get their marching orders.
Fourth Official Leeds United are putting a lot of effort into preparing a summer deal to bring back Jermaine Beckford to the club, Leicester happy to sell
Yeah i just want rid of him. He is a goalscorer but the negatives out weight the positives of having Beckford
he certainly seems to be doing his best to get a move. Maybe the 100K a week you're paying him isn't enough!
Beckford's not what we need. Great memories, but we've got Somma and McCormack who are made from a similar mould. We need another player like Becchio - a competent replacement for Billy Paynter in other words. If we spend big on Beckford, it might just be a big mistake. Not convinced we are anyway - Bates has said we're not signing him because we have to 'look forwards' (save money).
Beckford = speed. You have to build a team to play to Beckford, just like we did in League 1. Everything we did was with beckford in mind - that was why whenever he didn't play or was subbed, we were terrible because we never had a non-Beckford way of playing. I have said it time and again on heere - we have no pace. White is the only one. McCormack would be surplus if we had Beckford, or a bench-warmer. But we need top class bench warmers to push the others. Would Becchio become the excellent feeder again, or would he be better off elsewhere and we get a Kandol-lookey-likey back? To play Beckford we need a brilliant passer of the ball in midfield, and a strategy that pulls the opposition to the halfway line so that Beckford can exploit his pace right through. Any team that just sits on their own 18 yard box would eradicate any threat Beckford had. But having seen Beckford a few times since he left, I think he has advanced his game a lot since leaving us, and moyes especially has built into him amuch more of a team ethos. So overall, I would love to have him back, but we would have to build a way of playing that fit with him, which would at least mean we had a way of playing and would give us a chance.
