'Cricket is a brilliant sport to play and to watch' - If you've played and understand the game.

I played County cricket many years ago and Club cricket till 2 seasons ago.

Cricket is like beauty - In the eye of the beholder.

Do like international Cricket <ok> Not too hot on club cricket though to be honest.

Cricket is God's game. And Somerset his team.

By that you must be referring to the god of hades, aka satan himself as every good christian knows Gods team is the royal county of Gloucestershire<ok>

Having said that when I was a nipper I once shook hands with the great Viv Richards, a true legend of the game :)

Seeing as we are all dropping names, I went to school with David Sid Lawrence in Gloucester.

Still don't like it, maybe something to do with catching the ball in my mouth, ****ing hurt like hell but it was going for six!!

Had 5 weeks of school and had to eat through a straw, so get a bit worried when ever I'm near people playing.

I don't mind 1 day international world cup, when they have to do it, but these 5 days test just bores the pants of me.

But did occasionally watch Gloucester play rugby, and really enjoy international rugby. I love Cardiff on international day, if you have never been there for international day, you should try it the city is buzzing. Just don't do what I occasionally do get pissed and pay over the odds to get into the ground.

'Seeing as we are all dropping names'

    'the great Viv Richards'

I played against him, he had so much time it was frightening.
Joel Garner was the most difficult bowler I faced and true gentleman.
He told fantastic tales of Lillee and Thompson - The WIndies feared 'Tommo' not Lillee.

    Surprised by that Redprintt,

Everyone knows Joel Garner only ever got a game for the West Indies cos his Dad, Zebediah Garner was on the board of WI selectors...

Garner was always under-rated with all those genuine quickies around, but his
yorker must have been unplayable. Very languid approach.
Redprintt, without breaking anonymity, was it Glos you played for?......

    Banksy - Brilliant.
ps - And my dad was chairman of SCC.

p49 - Somerset - before Viv and the 'Bird'.
Garner's yorker was a nightmare, but hardest for me was the bounce he'd get out of any track (pre Lids).
He was never 'under-rated' by his peers.

You mention Glos - Zaheer - absolute class and no effort. Different player to Viv but could that guy bat.

So, with Garner also playing for Somerset, are you talking about facing him
in the nets, or in a different context?
