I also loved "Old Sleep Eyes" - Bob Mitchum. He was great in those film noirs. My favourite films come from the 40's and 50's. My favourite actress of all time was Bette Davis - what a star she was. All About Eve is a classic and also features a very young Norma Jean (sigh). I wish I was around at that time like you Dev. I would have pumped Marilyn silly and kept her away from the evil Kennedy's.
The problem with Marilyn is that everyone was pumping her ER. She is still georgeous though. Of them all I would say Lauren Bacall was my favourite.
That's ****in' brilliant Rogue. Absolutelty brilliant. I may use that line in the future if you don't mind
fire away yeah , I love all those old bogart movies , "to have and have not " being a particular lesser known favourite....love all the old basil rathbone"sherlock holmes" movies too...I think it was just that they had to do a better job of storytelling back then , and you can still appreciate that now.....that and the glamerous black and white burds !
Every young boys dream girl was Marilyn. God the amount of times I made love to her was ridiculous. Have you seen the footage of her singing Happy Birthday to JFK with what is an amazing almost spray on like dress which reveals her curves to mouth watering proportions. ****, I've just cum in me pants
Have you noticed how StereoTypist has not contributed on this thread? Confirmation that he is indeed a raging homo.
My favourite Old B&W is probably the Maltese Falcon or the 39 Steps with Robert Donat. Count of Monte Christo is a classic too. Some of them - like the Sherlock Holmes movies - are a bit hokey but that just adds to the feel. They could not rely on special effects back then so dialogue and plot were the keys.

Maltese Falcon is a classic too ; I read the book recently...really difficult not to do the voices from the movie in your head , especially "the fat man" ...peter green ?
God yes, Grace Kelly - what a darling she was. One film which is the only film that I have seen which is better than the book is "The Third Man" by Graham Greene. What a fantastic film that was. When Orson Welles appeared almost half way into the film emerging from a darkened doorway into the light is one of the finest pieces of cinematography I have ever seen. I'll bet you Jane Russel was a right dirty wee so and so as well - The Outlaw banned for years for the provocative cleavage.
Russel was a slapper you`d meet on a twisted, evil saturday night lurching out of The Blue Lagoon , pakora and chips in hand , compared to the delectable Maryln. Sorry , but, its got to be said. please log in to view this image
