Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am extremely honored to have been selected the 'not606 WUM of the year' award and I accept the responsibilities that this has entitled me to. I am boundlessly grateful to the votes I recieved, without which I wouldn't be here to speak to you lovely people right now (well, I probably would be here but you get the jist). I ask you to join me on a trip down memory lane where i'll explore with you the journey I took in my quest to become WUM of the year, a real dream come true. I start in July 2011. Poolside with a copy of an English newspaper in sunny Turkey on my holidays. I read that Leicester City had signed a young, Danish goalkeeper and son of goalkeeping legend, Peter Schmeichel. As you can imagine, after the torture of watching Ricardo and Weale blow our chances of Play-offs the season before this represented an opportunity to be excited. I therefore enjoyed reading the views of the Leeds United fans as they claimed he was 'rubbish' and 'useless'. I'd seen enough to know he was far better than what we had and a real step in the right direction and a goalkeeper that would represent sell on value at a mere £1m. Fast forward to the end of that month. Leicester City swooped to sign Reading's captain Matthew Mills. Not only did we sign a fabulous player. But we did so by beating Premier League clubs to his signature, something we hadn't been able to do before. Excited for the season by this stage, that's for sure. End of August represented the end of the transfer window, the end of a strage saga for Leicester fans but not without one last twist. At around 10:00pm we signed former Leeds United hotshot, Jermaine Beckford. As you could imagine, we came down on your board like a tonne of bricks. David Nugent the work horse and Jermaine Beckford the finisher. Sounded like a dream partnership... Well, about 30 goals between them isn't bad, but not title winning form. Then a few more months Sven Goran Eriksson was sacked after an abysmal start to the campaign. West Ham away and, (yep, you guessed), Leeds United and Burnley were the sides we had to play in his absense. Two losses and a win. The Leeds game was a shocking football match. I think Clayton's goal was the only reasonable shot on target. Two poor sides. Our turn to experience the full force of the Leeds United fans on our board and deservedly so. Few more months ahead, Leeds United sack Simon Grayson and replace him with Neil Warnock. I think that Bates thought he needed another knob in Leeds After an shocking start to his Leeds tenure, he hit rock bottom against lowly Nottingham Forest. 3-7 Still makes me giggle. Was a wonderful evening and I have to give special thanks to Gareth McLeary for that one. Bit further ahead and Leicester City find their Play-Off hopes cast aside against Millwall. Lost 2-1. Typical Leicester. We earnt our time of WUMming after our pre-season antics. Some went over the top, Hull fans seemed particularly focused on being racist . Now to this weekend. Shocking match. Leicester won 2-1 Enough said. When all has been said and done, it's been a poor season for both sides. With that I give special thanks to Leeds-18, You_Will_Beat_Kisnorbo, ellandback, MarkoLUFC, originallambrettaman, Danger Fox, Proud Fox and Lesta Gangsta. You've all been amazing, I really couldn't have done it without you. Thank you and good day
