Before this season even started, I amongst others were warning United fans that there appeared to be many similarities between the end of Liverpool's domination and the state of their own club and team. We were laughed at and told in no uncertain terms that we were wrong and that we had been predicting their demise for years -wrongly. But now we can point to the cracks.

The idea that sucess was built into the club. That experience of winning would see them through. That their manager would not let let it happen, etc etc.
United fans have been comforting themselves in both their own and the media PR.

They may still win the title this year but it will be a swangsong more than anything else.

I think you'll still get abuse about your time as a City fan from the mancs.

I think we are under less pressure than them, they're favourites and they'll think they only have to turn up to beat us since knocking Barca out of the CL.

I was thinking exactly the same thing when I saw the team sheet earlier. They normally only wheel Park out for the annual Barcelona humiliation.

I'm just here to laugh at the ridiculous 'Fergie out' and 'Our season has been a disaster' threads started by these cockney fools.

Is it really that good? I agree that De gea has come on leaps and bounds and now looks a good goalkeeper. If it is true that Vidic's injury was both an interior and exterior cruicate then the chances of him returning are slim. Jones and Smalling are prospects but can they stand on their own. Even United fans have grave reservations about Evans. Nani has always been a poor man's Ronaldo and is getting no better. Valencia has had a few good games but I believe lacks the killer instinct. Rooney can be excellent but his attention span can be broken. Wellbeck is still a young pony and Chickpea could still prove to be a one season wonder. The squad itself is not that strong especially when you have to rely on Scholes and Giggs. The defence can be made to panic and the midfield has been porous all season.

It appears that you too have been sucked-in by this Ferguson installed winning mentality. However, the players that actually had it are few and far between in this squad. I don't know about success being cylindrical but it certainly is cyclical. I have never said that United will slip into obscurity, they will continue to be there abouts but the old 'certainties' will not be there. Therein lies the similarities to liverpool's demise.

As for City. The Fair Play Rules will not stop them from paying whatever they feel that they need to in their search for the best players. I believe that they will either threaten or actually take UEFA to the EU Commission in relation to the competition laws if UEFA try to prevent them. We have already had the Chelsea experience like it or not and City will continue in that vain.

I actually dont like the financial fair play rules. They are basically stopping teams 'doing a Chelsea' which in effect keeps the big teams big and the small teams small which is ridiculous. Before the money boom in the premier league no bobody used to moan about Man Utd buying up all the talent in this country or Real Madrid popping in to cherry pick teams best players. I love the chaos that Chelsea and Man city have created with their millions!

I do agree though, Man City and Chelsea can put the worlds top lawyers up against this and any attempt to punish them will be pointless.

    Agreed.

First I would like to say to them...congratulations on winning the title. Such a shame City bottled it for the last 2 games. You all deserve it as it is the reason you decided to support Utd in the first place. Congratulations. <ok>

4th is a pipedream for all involved. Chelsea will lift the European cup at the end of the season and **** it up for whoever finishes 4th. Personally I would like Spurs to get 4th and then be cruely denied by Chelsea :p

To be honest, Man City winning today is good for us. Come Sunday they will think the job is done and possible mess it up again like they did before. If the defence can hold out on Wednesday night I think Cisse could snatch us a goal or two at Stamford bridge and really put the pressure on Spurs.
