For me, two events have overshadowed the entire season. As far as I am concerned, the WORST moment was hearing of the death of Gary Speed. Tragic waste of a much-loved player and manager. Conversely the BEST moment has to have been learning that Fabrice Muamba was going to live, having technically died. Both events highlighted the frailty of human life and also demonstrated that, no matter how much we love this beautiful game, sometimes, just sometimes, there are things that matter more...
good way of thinking about it sheikh352, but for me the worst part of the season was the Muamba incident and the few days after. Best was probably 5-0 against Newcastle. Shame about what followed!
Newcastle was the best moment for me too. Worst was either losing in another FA Cup semi or losing so pathetically against Arsenal.
Best - Beating 'Pool 4-0. Completely dominated them from first to last and enjoyed seeing that c*nt Adam receiving the red! Worst - Muamba's incident... Horrible scenes, generally thought I'd seen a player die on the pitch. My single worst moment at WHL. So glad he's made that miracle recovery. In footballing terms though, the 5-1 semi-final loss to Chelsea was the worst game for me. No passion, no heart, cheated on the second goal and then endured train journey's back with gloating Chelsea fans.
Agree with your worst. I don't get to the Lane very often and for that to be my first game in a while was terrible. I also thought I would get home to find he had died. The best was the start against Newcastle, may yet be a significant result!
yep, 2 worst are obviously Speed and Muamba. - horrific. in terms of games - best = the wins over liverpool, arsenal and Newcastle. some of the worst - the defeat to arsenal, the defeat away at city and the fa cup defeat to chelsea. and finally, the worst club moment for me, was the resignation of capello and how it's affected us this season. it was a "moment" that's spiralled into months of misery.
I don't get this. Capello was going anyway and the speculation about next season would have started fairly soon after it did. The FA haven't exactly rushed to make an appointment, so we'd have been wondering if Harry was leaving even if Capello hadn't resigned early.
yeah, but if he'd resigned in the summer, we wouldn't have been left half way through a season with all the speculation. the speculation was brought forward, right in the middle of our campaign. the players had enough to do, let alone have to deal with speculation. and come on, even harry thought hewas going to get offered it! everyone thought harry was the man for the job and was going to get it, so all the players wouldn't have been any different and it affected us.
I try not to get carried away amongst my Arsenal mates but when that second goal went in vs Arsenal that was my best moment of the season. That was when I was texting them, gloating (finally) about TGNLPS (The Great North London Power Shift). Cos it felt like I could really hammer home to them that things don't stay the same forever and Spurs were doubtlessly on the up and Arsenal were on the way down. So much so that we had now passed each other. We weren't even playing well but were two up. Spurs were that good now. Worst moment was about 45 mins later when Walcott scored the second. Subsequent worst moments over the following two months too numerous to mention or isolate.
Best Modric staying Spurs 4 Loserpool 0 Playing badly but winning the NLD 2-1 Spurs 5 Newcastle 0 Kyle Walker's development Somebody actually paying for Alan Hutton Worst Muamba's collapse The months of having Harry tapped up affecting our season The capitulation at the Emirates The FA Cup semi Chris Foy's determination to let Stoke win Howard Webb's continued inability to spot sending off offences Martin Atkinson's determination to see Chelsea in the FA Cup final The recent decline of Ledley King (although that could be a temporary thing) Too many useful utility players being loaned out in January
Very sad when your best moment of the season is one of your rivals losing and shows just how good your season has been.
Coming the day after we got slaughtered 1:5 at home, by Manchester City (and, at a time when Modric might still, conceivably, have left), we all needed something to cheer us up - and the gooners duly obliged. That said, I'd still rate Muamba's Lazarus-like recovery as a beeter moment - but we're all individuals!
the 2 incidents the OP chose can be applied to anyone in life not just football. best bit was to be able to say..'thats 10 wins from 11 games now' the worst bit was the whole England saga effecting our season(thanks Harry) and the prideless defeats against our foes.
Best bit...a free kick that went in!...cheers Kyle. Worst bit...disallowed legit goals, and goals given against us that weren't.
On footballing matters I though the worst minute of the season was Defoe's miss at the Etihad followed in short order by the Ballotelli penalty. I was sure we were going to win as Bale's cross came towards Defoe only to be looking at a loss a minute later. In my mind that is what did for the whole season.
