After the joy of yesterday and having followed the Shrews for over 50 years I think I can safely say this is simply my best Shrewsbury season ever. I went to 30 games (24 at home which includes 2 cup games) and saw 25 wins, 4 wins and only 1 defeat (at Arsenal). Yes, we have had teams playing at a higher level than League 2 over the years and some better individual players than any in our current team but in terms of the number of victories and the quality of some of the passing football played this simply has to be my best ever season.
Six highlights from the matches I went to are:
Ainsworth's destruction of Kilbane in the first half at Derby
    Collins goal at Arsenal
The goal rampage in the last 10 minutes at Northampton
The fightback by 10 men in front of the noisiest crowd I can remember at the Meadow against Southend
Richard's injury time screamer against Oxford
    Gornell's classy strikes against Rotherham.
It has been quite a season and I would just like to thank GT and the players for their magnificent efforts all the way through.

Of those highlights, I was lucky enough to witness just the one!

However, this has been a great year, and I haven't seen Town lose a single game all season, and I must have been to about 25 - I missed the first few due to being away and have occasionally stumbled into commitments mid-season.

it has been a great season, 2 cup runs and promo. and the nicest thing is the complements paid to our team by other clubs saying we were the best team they had played. i believe the middlesboro manager praised us after towns narrow 1-0 defeat in the fa cup. and these cup runs with tv rights must have built up a fund for any player purchases. i think other clubs praises reflects on an excellent team effort from roland and graham and everyone else involved. floreat salopia

It has I think been the best season, just beating our year in the Conference. The only low time was around Christmas when we should have done better.

Its been a blast can't wait for all of the summer tranfers to start and the new season can't come quick enough. Been fortunate to only miss 3 games away & 2 home due to holidays etc and have loved every minute .

It still cannot beat 1978-79 which was a team very similar to this season with no outstanding individuals and similarly no goalscorer achieving anywhere near 20 goals in the league. Added to that was reaching the quarter final of the FA Cup even going to a replay, and a Welsh Cup victory beating Cardiff in the final.

2 points- we should have gone up last season but fate decreed otherwise, and the disapointing fire power up front this season which hopefully will be addressed before we join the league 1 menagarie with lions tigers and some elephants rampaging. those little shrews could be either trodden under foot or more likely pull off some suprise wins

the greatest achievment has been our unbeaten record which must be a credit to our defence and man between the sticks.and we must accept that may be breached early on next season. so what do the shrews do, they pick themselves up and breath on 'em. floreat salopia

Certainly my best season watching Shrews but then I'm only up to about 10 so far! I think I've seen 32 games (all the home games bar Accrington and 8 away) and only saw Arsenal beat us - 23 wins & 8 draws otherwise.

I felt this season was going to be special. It was a bit worrying when we only took 2 points from our first 3 games but 86 points from the next 42 is a fantastic return.

I agree greenhousmeadowman's highlights, apart from Northampton as I wasn't there.

I'd add the ouplaying of a good Swansea team, finally nailing the "never beat the Vale" jinx with a double (or treble!) over them, turning around a deficit to beat Swindon at home and those memorable recent night games at the Meadow when we weren't always at our best but always got a result.

Southend at home was the critical turning point for me though. When Morgan went off so early, and with them top and their away record being so good, we were facing falling 10 points behind. The players and the crowd were just unbelievable, especially when they equalised, Sherriff got a bad injury and it looked like we might not make it. The energy at the Meadow was incredible that day and I was certain we could do it after that. The whole club came together and that's stayed with us.

the Swindon away game before that Southend game was crucial too. Although we lost it was a fantastic game to listen to on the radio and even Di Canio had to admit they were lucky to get the points.
