Interesting to see who the BBC have asked about whether Roy Hodgson is the right man for the job.

A few random Celts, Ramon Vega (???), Liverpool and managerial legend John Barnes, and at the end an obligatory five second gracious (and genuine) loser's speech from Harry.

Half time in the Manchester game with City 1-0 ahead.

Ashley can only make the bench. Explains the score I guess.;)

Dan, let me add my condolences. You sound as if you had a wonderful grandfather. It takes time to get over the loss but it can turn into a deep well of love and inspiration. Good luck over the next while.

[NSFW]After that result the league is City's for the taking. I predicted a long time ago that the winner of tonight would win the league[/NSFW]

I rarely bother to watch EPL games, but did watch the second half of that game. One shot on target in 95 mins was the total that Utd could manage.

I did see SAF throwing a tantrum. Is it any wonder that players react in the way that they do when they see their boss throwing his weight about?

Yeah, i really did not care who won, i hate both teams. One team is buying success and the other is a group of arrogant arse holes.

Hmm... to be honest we probably need more clues before working out which is which.

Well one has spent over £200,000,000 in 2 years and the other is a group of twats who think they are demigods. The first play in blue and the second in red.

i didnt say that Utd bought anything. Its their attitude which annoys me. SAF thinks he has the right to abuse every official who dares give a decision against them, his players use every cheat in the book, and it has to be taught cos AY was NEVER like that for us OR Villa. Then you get players like Rooney who are ok to demand a wage increase or threaten to walk out. They may not spend £100m per year, but they spend a small fortune on players every year. They are rumoured to be offering 35m for a young European player in summer. But they have nearly 500m in debt!! They need the FFP plan and ASAP!!! If we had 10m to spend you would probably find that we finished better than this year and probably would make the play offs.

sadly Dan, all of the above is probably fairly near the truth, though some of it may be a bit slanderous lol. However, it's all about money...and Man City have someone who owns them who have afforded the players they have and bought their way to the top of the league. i can't wait til their owner gets bored with his new toy and goes home...! They'll have far more debt than Man U then, i can assure you!

None of what i say is slanderous. Slander refers to spoken words, libel refers to the written word. However, none of it is libelous either. It is a fact that he has been in trouble for abusing officials a number of times and complains when he feels they are 'against' them. Their players are often simulating and exaggerating contact, therefore cheating. The owners have been sneaky and bent the rules by selling the rights of ownership to their own company allowing them to generate over 100m in revenue. I agree that City will have huge debts, yet another reason why i hate them.

Unfortunately Many City will have very little 'debt', and looking at the 'project', the owners will be around for a long time. I have to admit, I don't like the way the owners have gone about moving them up the table, but the way football is at the moment, it is the only real way of competing and getting there quickly... this is down to Champions League and Sky, where they created the "Sky 4", making it almost impossible for anyone else to break into their little group without spending lots of money! I applaud Newcastle, but do you realistically see them challenging for the title? Tottenham for that matter too, without significant investment!

What I would say about Man City though is all the off-field work they have done, regenerating the area, pouring a lot of money into the area and their own youth system. This tells me they are in it for the long haul - yes they have poured money into the first team to get them up there, but I think they are doing all this other work to keep them there!

Morning all, at long last the sun is out and I will be able to do some of my outside jobs today. ;)

Speaking of money in football, which side of the argument would you take with Barmby up at Hull.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...over-transfer-and-wage-comments-in-media.html

It seems to me that £51m since December 2010 is not bad, but maybe that was to cover existing and on going debts. Does Barmby have his head in the clouds about money?

I can imagine Hull's wage bill being pretty extortionate still, so would side with the owners. Pumping large amounts of money doesn't guarantee success (look at Leicester), and I'm sure there are plenty of freebies out there with everyone trying to cut their cloth. If Barmby is a decent manager, he should be able to work with what he's got, and wheel and deal in the market!
