No Len Shackleton? No Raich Carter? No Brian Clough?

Sadly most of us have never seen Sunderlands better players.

I know we would thrash Newcastle's best eleven though ;)

HAHAHA!! Actually made me laugh out loud!! My cousin Richard (Who is also a twat!) looks like Jimmy Carr - but I quite like Jimmy Carr!!

Quinn & SKP up front - Marco on the bench for me!

Monty in goal - not sure about the rest!!

I remember when the Sunderland Echo used to ask "When is Charlie Hurley going to play a bad game "

That team would beat ours even if we restricted it to one chance they'd win 1-0. Really can't be underestimated how important having a prolific scorer is to a whole team. The balance and creativity of summerbee and Johnston provided the best strike partnership in the clubs history. If Bally had played at his prime with Hutchison that would have been a formidable partnership. That team could actually tonk our current side

Lee Clark, Michael Chopra, Bob Moncur, Bryan 'Pop' Robson, Len Shackleton, Tommy Gibb, Mick Harford, Ron Guthrie, David Kelly, David Young, Steve Caldwell should all be included for starters. For no other reason than them being Newcastle players first and to piss off NMG and his conspiracy theories. There's been others but that is as far as my knowledge/memory stretches.

I read about Pop Robson when I lived in the North East... he seems quite passionate about North East football in general, unlike Lee Clarke.

Pop Robson was born next to Roker Park and would have heard the Roker Roar straight away. Jackie Milburn was a Sunderland supporter as you would have known if you ever met him
