To me it seems that the FA have gone for someone who will not speak out of line or be in the papers for the wrong reason's, someone who will be the FA's bitch rather than someone who will actually win us something even if they like to speak there mind.

Capello left because he and the FA disagreed on something can you imagine Hodgson doing that?

The bloke has plenty of experience at both club and international level but the England job IMO is the biggest job in the world and we have given it to an average manager, that's not being critical of Roy, I like him but to me he is a mid table premier league manager and now he is the England manager, to me it just shows just how much club football has taken off and totally overshadows international football. Does anyone see Roy Hodgson being successful and winning us a European championship or a world cup?

Would you class Hodgson in the 30 top managers in World Football and now he has the England job, saying that is there any international manager that you would say is in the top 10 in the world?

The FA are going to employ a "yes man" on the cheap, he is not capable of exciting the general public with his style of football, he will not excite the general public with his personality. The FA has wasted a wonderful opportunity giving to them by Capello leaving early. The little bit of enthusiasm I had generated for the euro's has today been extinguished, well done the FA I bet they are all handing out fat cigars and patting each other on there back's on another job well done !!!!

I think he is an excellent manager, but will not be given a chance by the tabloid press who wanted their man Harry!

    Nailed it for me.

Roy is a good manager, but you need a forward thinking, dynamic & adventurous manager to succeed at international level.

Roy will have my backing, and I hope he makes me look a tit, but like or loath him, Harry should have been the only contender for that job, IMO.

As England manager he will get my support but i am sure the FA said they would be drawing up a shortlist. Surely more than one person should have been given a chance to put their views and ideas across on how to take the National team forward.

Roy Greenwood/Brian Clough springs to mind. FA totally against who the fans want.
Hope the press at least give the bloke a chance.

He couldn't handle the Liverpool prima donas so what chance does he have with the England clique twats, recipe for disaster and the bloke will probably get crucified the first time we get beat.
Seems like a good bloke who can work wonders with decent hard working players (Fulham, WBA) but, he will fail with the so called "STAR" players of England. He is the cheap option so will probably get it, the FA don't give an FA about who is in charge as long as they can control him.

We all know that the press will go after Roy if results go badly , but I reckon they would have given 'Arry a bloody hard time too.

'Arrys private life would be much more likely to be hiding a juicy story than Woys , so the papers would much rather have had HR. More profit for them.

The FA as the initials say, know **** all about football. just power crazed berks, with their own agenda. And only if its in their own interests. they dont give a ****, and have no passion for our football, country or people. Just how much wedge they can turn over, for their, as I said agenda. ROY H,,,,,,,,,,, good manager, experianced, but the best,,,,,,,,,,,who knows, but Spurs wanted millions for saggy fyace. so Roy will be cheaper. Dont get me wrong, chances are he will do better than his predesessors...........time will tell.
