As an attacking LWF ? rotating with RVP ? as a striker with RVP just behind ? alongside RVP in a two man attack ?

    Or somewhere else ?

main front man- RVP either side - preferably left.
Fed by Walcott - Oxo - Geronimo on wings.

Wilshere - Arteta - Rosicky in the middle.

    That leaves only 2 defenders - blast !!!! <laugh>

    I think he's Van Persie's replacement.

If RVP stays, this means two of Gervinho, Walcott and Chamberlain will be benched, and Wenger would never bench Walcott and probably doesn't want to bench Gervinho.

I don't see any problem in benching Gervinho, plus, Gervinho will be off to the ACN again in January, so we would need someone for that position. As for Chamberlain, Wenger isn't going to mind benching Chamberlain at all, Chamberlain will most likely feature more than he did this season, but still not on a solid consistent basis, Wenger will probably still take it easy with him and use Walcott on a more regular basis out on the right hand side.

    Sagna----Verm---Kol----santos
    -------M'Villa---wilshire--------
    -The pod---Rosicky----Oxo-----
    ----------RVP-----------------

Still leaves song, arteta, walcott, etc on the bench.

It looks like he has the technical skill and ability to play all across the front three. This would allow us to play more dynamically up front and free up RVP from just the entral position to the right and sometimes left. Essentially RVP and Pod would interchange positions. You could also stick the Pod on the right, like we did with RVP and tell him to cut in with his lovely left foot.

In the Bundesliga, he has scored 18 goals with 8 assists in 28 games. Those are impressive for someone playing for a struggling religation side, and as a left winger.

oxo isn't ready for a starting position yet. we've seen that in all the games he's come on as a sub or started in, bar a few. walcott is still first choice on the wing. also, i think gibbs is a better all-round left back than santos, but rotation will be necessary. don't see rosicky starting if arteta and wilshere are fit, with jack being the advanced midfielde:

    ---------------Szczesny---------------
    --Sagna--Koscielny--Vermaelen--Gibbs--
    ------------Song------Arteta-----------
    -Walcott--------Wilshere-------Podolski-
    ----------------v.Persie----------------

Of course Wenger may revert to a 4-4-2 with RVP playing off of the Pod or vice-versa. Walcott and Gervinho/Chamberlain on the wings, although I doubt it.

Well your team will be the team wenger goes with unfortunatly.

I really dont see why you would push wilshere further forward and out of position. Its a completely different type of player needed to play up there and wilshire would be awful. But wenger played ramsey there for 6 months so I dont doubt he will now go for wilshire.

Rosicky is a better player than wilshire and he is quicker and has more of an eye for playing attacking defence splitting passes and moving the play effectively up there.

    Podolski--------RVP------Walcott
    ------------Wilshere-------------
    --------Song--------M'Vila-------
    Gibbs-------Verm-Kosc-----Sagna
    ------------Szczesny------------
Bench: Martinez, Vertonghen, Santos, Arteta, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Afobe

That's my team for next season. Would be great.

Attacking Midfield is Wilshere's natural position. It's only last season where he was played deeper.

Not fast enough and not talented enough. To play that role you need to be an exceptional talent. We dont have to play with someone that advanced so if wilshire plays he could play deeper in a more 4-3-3 formation. I would prefer to see us play 4-2-3-1 though.

i disagree completely. wilshere is quite quick (acceleration wise) and has exceptional talent. all through his youth he played either on the right or as an attacking midfielder. he only played deeper because he could tackle, was tenacious, and because he wasn't going to oust fabregas from his role. now that cesc has gone, wilshere will be the preferred choice in attacking midfield, and one reason why I think wenger won't buy an attacking midfielder but a defensive one.

DMs: Song, M'Vila, Coquelin, Frimpong (loan)
AMs: Wilshere, Arteta, Rosicky, Ramsey, Diaby

Hahah. Wilshere not talented enough? Also Fabregas is slower than Jack and he did alright in that role.

He's going to be like Arshavin but much better. In the same way Van Persie is like Bendtner but much better.

AMs arteta? Disagree. He has reinvented himself as a holding player basically.

On wilshire - he is slow. Not that that is essential. I mean I wouldnt say the best number 10's need to be fast. Look at Sneidjer or someone like that. Quite slow but has the technical ability and creativity to fit that role perfectly. I just dont see wilshire having that level of ability. He could be a really top player as a CM, why make him an average AM?

And on Ramsey, if we buy any CM and if wilshire comes back ok then I hope ramsey is sent packing either on loan or sold. We will be overcrowded with centre mids.

Yeh he did alright but cesc would of been better just as a centre mid imo.

Why cant we go with rosicky next year? He is our best player except for maybe rvp. He was a world class talent and is finally fit again. Lets play him every week and capitalise on a fantastic football player

Fabregas was sensational in that role in the 09-10 season. Wilshere can adapt and play anywhere, he is that good. Before last season, he never ever played in that deep-lying role, yet he slotted in and by the end of the season was voted as the best young player in the country. Wilshere is technically so good, that he can basically play in most roles. But, with his injury problems and not knowing how he will comeback, it is essential that we buy someone.

If RVP stays I think Podolski will be a sub most of the time, starting on the left occasionally depending on the opponent.

Wenger would be mad to change RVP's position after it has worked so well this season, especially to make room for a player from a relegation threatened german side.

Podolski is great in his day, but let's be honest we all formed our opinion based on his appearances for Germany. He never impressed for Bayern, and has played the last 3 seasons for a relegation threatened Bundesliga side.

I'm not setting my expectations too high on him, and hope he makes a positive contribution to our squad. But in no way is he a player worth making significant changes in the formation to make room for him.

I humbly disagree with this. No player has made the left-forward role their own this season. I think it was anticipated that Gervinho would, but he has struggled for form so it seems. If Podolski can come in and do well there, I think he could claim that role for the whole of next season, occassionally stepping into the middle to give RvP a bit of a rest.
