Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Lucas Podolski from Cologne. This is a massive deal for them, especially if Van Persie stays. This deal, along with Chelsea's for Marco Marin, shows our rivals out to get stronger very quickly. This is a big challenge for us and we need to work fast on the offensive this summer. Rumours of Elm and Ramirez in, and talk of Sissoko and Hoilett talks are positive, but until official news is out, I will continue to feel a little cautious. I will say though, that the Premier League is going to be even more exciting next year with all these players coming in. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17895063
Doubt we will need him anyway. If he stays - great. If he doesnt it wont hurt us that much. We are going to strengthen this summer whatever happens to rvp.
Not too sure about that. Strengthening isn't always that straight forward, especially if you need to replace a player that has literally dragged you up the table by himself (earlier in the season). Look at Gervinho for example, terrible signing in my opinion. Basically if RVP goes you have to get the transfer window absolutely spot on otherwise things could get sticky. Not saying you can't, but it won't be easy.
Think Xabi Alonso. Who would have thought his exit would have hit us that hard. We needed to strengthen, but he leaves and it turns to replacing. The wrong person was signed and we slid down the table.
Hopefully that's their major summer signing. He should do well for them, if he repeats his Koln/international form. If he plays like he did at Munich (albeit they went and bought Luca Toni to play ahead of him) he won't be great.
