Hi Chaps, We're getting towards that time of the year where we can look back our season as a whole. No doubt over the summer we'll be continuing our conversations about everything tottenham related such as: the transfer market, rumours, tactics, etc etc.... Despite some of the negativity recently, including our slump in form, and the doubt surrounding our manager's future; we saw the PFA young player of the year, Kyle walker, score one an absolutely superb goal. A world class finish that even the likes of David Beckham and Roberto Carlos would be proud of. In addition, the 7 games in the premiership on saturday produced 24 Goals, with some absolute "beauties". - From Franco Di Santo's chip against Newcastle, to Suarez's 3rd against Norwich, from almost the 1/2 way line! This season has also shown us the tightest race for Champions League football in years. So, with the quality of football across the premiership continuing to improve, making our league stronger than ever on the world stage....what is your goal of the season? Please suggest a few, and add Youtube links to the thread, as I'm sure everyone will enjoy seeing them again and again. (unless they are against us, of course) I plan to create a Poll in a few weeks, with perhaps the top 8-10 suggestions and we'll take a vote!
Our goal of the season is probably Walkers to be honest. Amazing strike. Premier League goal of the season is Crouchy's vs City.
Come on, only one contender Walker gets young goal of the year?
only one contender HD, really? is it that clear cut? Ben Arfa's vs Bolton? even Suazez's vs Norwich yesterday! not much different to Beckham's against Wimbledon! There's some good contenders over the course of the season! let's see what everyone else comes up with!
Crouch's hands down. I thought it was embarrassing that Lawro last night was trying to justify picking Suarez's over it.
Crouch's was fantastic, but it's overshadowing some other amazing goals. Suarez's goal was amazing IMO, YV. I know it's suarez, but that's no different to Beckham's, which everyone has banged on about for years! there's loads I can think of, but I can remember who the player scored against! For our goals, Modric's against Liverpool has got to be up there!
Definitely a contender, superb way to round of a hat-trick but Crouchy's still nicks it for me, not seen a goal like that before or atleast from what my memory serves anyway, can't help but see Beckham's face everytime I see Suarez's goal
in addition (for our own goals), if we allow european football too, then Pav's freekick has got to be up there!!! that was ridiculous.
To be fair, Beckham's was from within his own half, Suarez was in the opposition half. Crouch's was so good because it was so unexpected - did anyone expect him to pull something like that off? Van Persie's volley against Liverpool was something special, too... Modric's against Liverpool was a thing of beauty, though. Shame any clips of it on YT are either Fanzone, or recreations on FIFA 12...
Suarez had something to aim for, the keeper was on the edge of the 18 yard box when he hit it and was on the edge of the 6 yard box when the ball past him. I'm not saying it wasn't skillful but if you remember Sandro put the ball onto Lennon's toe from about 30 yards at one point yesterday it's really not as difficult as you might think for a top player to do. Crouch's was far more difficult, he was going away from goal and volleyed on the swivel at a perfect trajectory which needed to be fast enough to beat Hart who has a knack for getting his fingertips to shots that no one else would get near. In short, Suarez's was a 1/10, maybe 1/20 shot whereas Crouch's was a 1/100 minimum, plus it wasn't half prettier. I think ours would have to go to Walker, Bale against City maybe as second.
Suarez goal was more a pass and I would say it was worthy of goal of the season if it wasn't more luck than anything. If you are wondering why I say luck you only have to look at his chip (his easist chance) earlier that he completely fluffed. Also the rain helped because the goalie couldn't turn and move quick enough. I'm sure there must be more than this, RVP & crouch's goal? I remember moaning at MOTD for picking a few crap ones earlier in the season over great ones. Need to look back
I knew it! I was just waiting for you to pop up mate! hahaha a few that stick out for me... Nani's V chelsea Fletcher vs man city Bale's v's man city (thanks YV) BENNY'S AGAINST EVERTON!!! Tim Howards goal? i know it was windy, but still!!! By the way YV, completely agree with your comments. when you look at it how you have described... spot on.
Crouch's goal was good but i think the **** fest over it has meant that alot of other strikes have been overlooked... Suarez v Norwich was sheer class..all 3 goals were great finishes..but the 3rd one was just fantastic..if only he had blonde hair a squeeky voice and was the next best thing for England..he would have won it hands down. Kyle Walker free kick was amazing..dead ball magic from a Spur..great to see. Van Persie as mentioned above. Modric goal v Liverpool....'did you seee that!' have a watch of this if we need some reminders..as my memory struggles to go past the weekend however some of these goals are from last year surely? plenty more links to see on video too.
